It sounds like they are talking about going to a 14 team playoff where the SEC and Big 10 are guaranteed 4 spots each, the ACC and Big Twelve 2 spots each, the highest group of 5 one spot and Notre Dame a spot if in the top 14.

I guess that might be better than how it is now for the SEC and the bloodbath schedules making sure a 4th place SEC team goes over a 3rd place ACC or Big Twelve team that has a better record. And going over a 2nd group of 5 school that might be in the top 14 some years.

Sounds like we may go to 9 SEC games in 2026 also along with the playoff changes.

I can't remember if it was Athlon magazine but it was a magazine back in 1983 or 1984 laying out the playoffs for 16 teams, with UF included. At the time it seemed like it would work. Spurrier was also a proponent of it back when he coached at UF.

Don't be surprised if we see a 16 team CFP in the near future.

Not a fan. We had 12 teams last year and more than half were shitty games. Increasing the playoff spots will only increase the number of shitty games.

Can't stop that but all top 4 seed bye week teams lost in their first playoff game this season I think. That included the SEC and Big 10 champions.
