Pelosi Exposed

Not a fan of making schools a police state. I don't know one teacher that wants to carry a gun. Some can if they want but we shouldn't make that a job requirement. Teachers want to teach, not shoot bad guys.
Agreed. There are common sense reforms that can be put in place, it may not solve all items - but many of them.

Background checks/ID checks - need for them to come into the border, vote, go into a school, etc.

No need for a young person to own an AR-15. Wait until they are 25. If they are serving our country in good standing, then yes, they can exercise this right earlier.

As of that, they should have badge access to schools that they can turn on/off. Standard at most workplaces, colleges, etc.

Will it solve all gun crimes, nope. Will the right fund all of the mental health that may be needed (even if so, will it really be that effective?), nope.

And then actors already in the system to need. Red flags, the police on site, etc.

Meet in the middle with common sense reforms.

How many heart attacks were prevented by better diets and regular trips to a primary care physician?
Many, many, many....

Schools should have ready access to armed support. Does it need to be at the school? No, not necessarily. Should it be 10-15 minutes away (at most), yes.

What do you mean by soft targets?

Another definition might be where a large group of people assemble who are unlikely to be able to defend themselves for whatever reason. Those people might be children, the elderly, the sick or infirmed or maybe just people who are apposed to weapons in general.

This is why some of you are "special". Why does it annoy that I think it's sad that we have to harden schools so kids doesn't get murdered? Should I be happy about kids getting murdered in schools?

Yes, it's sad. But back here in reality....

Point of order, the American left killed our mental health facilities in the 60's. They were cruel and unusual.

Were they in need of an upgrade? Absolutely...but turning people who were committed to asylums loose onto the streets was cruel and unusual. Cruel to them and those that they have harmed.

In my state we have a need for 5,800 permanent beds for mental health needs. Many more for transitory. We have 212 permanent mental health beds.

2 hundred and freaking 12. That's a joke.

10-15 minutes is a LONG time in a gunfight. Even 60 seconds is unbelievably long.
In addition to armed security on site, limited access to school grounds is even a more important step. I know that would suck for high school students (skipping class, etc), but would eliminate most armed threats.

First off, you get to decide what you need. Not what anyone else needs.

Even the most liberal backwards ass constitution hating court in the land, 9th district court of appeals, has determined it is unconstitutional to restrict ownership of firearms to legal adults.

So you can f*ck right off, slaver.

Didn't Scalia say that the 2nd amendment wasn't absolute and unlimited?

You should be happy that schools are being hardened instead of passing nonsense gun control that doesn't address the problem. And your boy was the one that introduced the gun free school zone act of 1990.
Naw cuz, I never said anything about gun control. All I said was its sad that America has to harden schools, nobody should be happy that ours kids safety has gotten so bad that we have to do that.

Agreed. Badged access like on colleges, corporate HQs, solves most of this.

Justice Antonin Scalia wrote the Heller majority opinion. “The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home,” Scalia said.

He did not say unlawful purposes like murdering innocent people. His comment has been taken out of context by damn near every libtard on the planet. How many shots do you need to defend yourself? Depends on the circumstances. 3 or 5 shot clips/magazines don't fit every need.

Change most to some and we've found common ground.

Denying access is certainly part of a good strategy. But to err is human so we cannot base the entire strategy on such. Robb Elementary School was supposed to have locked doors.

On two occasions I have arrested armed individuals who gained access to a controlled area, where they weren't supposed to be, and they managed to get through the locked door (area denial). One was nuts and the other was a violent guy who had a restraining order against him and he was trying to get to the person who filed the restraining order.

Yes. You can't buy a nuke, grenades or a claymore mine.
Yes, you can. Grenades and mines are controlled by BATFE. So if you have the money, don't mind the government knowing about it, and have the cash to pay the tax stamp, you can have all the dynamite, c4, grenades, mines, artillery shells, main battle tank ammunition, etc that you want.

Which is positive proof the government doesn't actually care about controlling anything, they just want your money.

Looks like the best way is one central campus access point, with armed security surrounded by high fence with razor wire. For K-12. Sad that it has come to this, and taking away guns won't solve the problem. Maniacs and criminals will always have access to them because they don't obey laws.

My neighbor has a friend in PA who owns a artillery tank. He's got the permits and spends a fortune on ammunition. Once a year they have a party and blow up shit on his farm, old junk cars and such. 😂

You can own automatic weapons similarly if you have the license...but I was referring to the access without the license.

I'm not so sure it's legal to buy claymore, landmines and functional MBT's however. It may be technically legal but I just don't see how one would accomplish the purchase.

Dynamite OTOH...

I'm going to my Masters Guns house later to help him with his trailer. I'll take pictures of the mines around his property.

I know for a fact it's legal to own a main battle tank that's functional, they auction them off at Camp Blanding every month. You have to get a class three if you want the secondary weapon, and you have to buy a tax stamp for every stinking round for the main gun. But you can, if you're rich.

How pissed would my neighbors be if I bought a Leopard 2?

“Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment right is not unlimited…. [It is] not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose.”

And there you go interpreting a SCOTUS opinion. Reread post #60. Taking a semiautomatic weapon to a school yard isn't a legal purpose.

Why didn't the first 2 years of the Obama administration not pass any gun control they wanted when they had the white house and house and a filibuster proof senate? Is the answer that they really don't want to solve anything and fear they would get blamed if their own legislation led to very little effect and that just having the issue is better politically for them?

I knew a tanker out of Tallahassee that got in huge trouble for shooting a bull Elephant with the main gun of an Abrahms. Funny thing is he got in more trouble for firing a depleted uranium round than he did executing an endangered species.

Hell. An old Civil War cannon loaded with cannister would be fun for riot control. 😂

Nailed it. Just like the whacko cities standing down their police in Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia, etc. and got overwhelmed with violence. Now they're begging for cops to take jobs. Careful what they wish for.

Fair 1st question. The 2nd question is just stupid.

Look I'm not fully buying into this whole argument about 'guns haven't changed people changed'.
Sure people have changed to some degree but according to the FBI website...Table 9...364 people were murdered with a rifle in 2019 (and not all of those are Assault Rifle-15's) while 600 people were murdered with hands, fists and feet.
I'll tell ya what has changed...media coverage!
I'm not condoning shootings and this comes from someone who lives 5 miles from Parkland and knows students who were there but every time there's a shooting it's wall to wall media coverage. The data suggests that these incidents are not as prevalent as the media coverage suggests. Imagine if the media covered child drunk driver deaths like they did Parkland and Texas.
