Ok, so ya’ll know Napier isn’t getting fired, right?!?!?

So @sadgator was right. With possibily the worst recruiting class in decades right now, it will be interesting to see how many of our better players leave for greener pastures after the season. I'm glad basketball season has started and am really looking forward to the spring sports already.

I think this was a huge mistake to issue a statement as you are admitting you have a problem. As for players leaving, a lot of top schools (with a lot of money) will be looking for a QB. Worried about that honestly.

This reeks of Zook with a much lower winning %

Apparently the “negotiations” with Lane Kiffin weren’t going very well…

Lol…

Fever is like…

it’s completely obscene that a public university would pay out 8 figures to buy out a coach. You can say oh boosters pay it, but buyout money unquestionably could have been applied somewhere else that taxpayers then have to cover.

If FSU ever starts talking about paying Norvell’s $80 mill buyout, the attorney general’s office should get involved imo.

This is HUGE news. Not the part about Napier, but the part about Sad being right! He was on a lengthy losing streak, and that has now finally come to an end. Congrats Sad!!!

Since football pays for EVERY other sport the University competes in, I would say protecting the investment is important. If football money dries up, there is no other sport making money.

As you have stated, and I agree with, no guarantee these kids stick around anyway. Hell, Lagway, Baugh, Wilson, etc could all enter the portal regardless. I

Well we paid buyouts to Mullen and Mac and we see how that “investment” worked out.

He would love for the revolving door to continue at UF. He has an absolute swarm of former gators, coaches and alumni around every day.

Crazy they are letting an injury save him regardless of how screwed up his coaching is the remaining games. If he keeps it up next season we are screwed for many years as this recruiting class and the next one will be very bad for an SEC class.

If you are going to keep him (which is absurd) make him man up like Michigan did Harbaugh. Re-write a contract with low base and low to no buyout with huge bonuses for hitting certain criteria. Make him bet on himself, because what does the clown say “Scared money don’t make money.”

I don't like keeping Napier - but if you are going to then I'd say this show of support from the administration, probably is the best way forward.

I mean, once you make the decision that he's here thru next year, it'll only be worse if you don't acknowledge it.

Whether you “support” it or others hate it has no bearing on the outcome. Unless of course we are talking the people with money, their “support” has some impact.

How are you going to “make him” negotiate away a guaranteed $26 million for an incentive structure? Lol. Maybe bring in Luca Brasi.

I bet with the ego of most head coaches he would have taken a renegotiated lower buyout to be given another year to show something. Our admin is too dumb for that though. It looks like he still gets about 20 million if we fire him at the end of next season.

Nobody’s dumb enough to give away 8 figures. It doesn’t even make sense. The reason he has the job is BECAUSE of the buyout. If he gave enough of it away, he’d be fired tomorrow.

Assuming Stricklin put out this statement to try and calm the waters for recruiting, he should have done it AT LEAST a month ago, not now. He should have done it right after Texas A&M. Instead, he went and hid, even stopped going to Gators sporting events like a coward. By addressing the Gator nation way too late in the season about this is only making Stricknine look more and more like an idiot.

I know Stricklin is too dumb to realize it, but with that statement or not, the results of the next three games will continue to impact recruiting.
