BACKGROUND ON THE BULLDOGS
Mississippi State enters the weekend with an 18-8 record and 3-3 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs posted a home series win over LSU before dropping two out of three at Texas A&M last weekend. Through 26 games, Mississippi State is slashing .297/.410/.460 with 28 home runs, backed by a 4.13 ERA in 231 innings on the mound. The Bulldogs have fielded at a respectable .982 clip on the defensive end.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite dropping a Tuesday tilt to No. 17 FSU in Jacksonville (L, 14-3), the Gators are coming off a series win at No. 5 LSU in Baton Rouge. Florida rebounded from a 6-1 game one loss to claim each of the final two contests, 6-4 (11) and 12-2 (8). With the performance, Florida posted its second top-five series victory in as many weekends. In fact, Florida is the only team in the nation with a pair of top-five series wins this season. The Gators were led by red-hot outfielder Ty Evans<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/ty-evans/16368>, who went 8-for-15 (.533/.533/1.067) in the series with two home runs and two doubles. He was the lone Gator to bat above .250 in the series and had multiple hits in every game.

CAN'T CRACK CONDRON
Florida has won 14-consecutive three-game, regular-season home series at Condron Family Ballpark dating back to the 2022 season. The Gators are 30-7 in home series since 2023 following the series win over No. 4 Texas A&M. Florida is 45-13 at home since the start of last season. Counting Florida's 2023 Super Regional sweep vs. South Carolina, the Gators have won 15-straight series at home.

SERIESLY WINNING
The Gators have claimed 21 of their last 23 three-game, regular-season series dating back to the 2022 season including 14 of 16 in SEC play. The Gators are 42-15 in weekend series since the start of last season and 51-18 across the team's previous 23 series at any venue.

THE SEC'S FINEST
Since Florida's last home series lost vs. Tennessee from April 22-24, 2022, the Gators have gone 41-18 vs. SEC opponents featuring a 33-15 regular-season mark. In that span, Florida has won 14 of its last 16 SEC series. Dating back to O'Sullivan's first year at UF in 2008, Florida's .618 winning % is the best in the conference (281-174).

DINGERS, GEMS & WHIFFS APLENTY
Having launched 53 home runs in 24 games (2.2 HR/G), Florida ranks sixth nationally and third in the SEC in big flies. The Gators also remain among the top-10 in the country in fielding percentage, ranking sixth in the NCAA and second in the SEC at .983. With 262 strikeouts in 211 innings, Florida sits 11th nationally and fifth in the SEC in strikeouts per nine (11.2).

RELENTLESS REPTILES
Down to its final out in game two at LSU after dropping the opener, Florida rallied for come-from-behind victories in both of the final two games. The Gators now own six comeback wins on the campaign. In game two at LSU, Evans hit a game-tying single to center field with two outs in the ninth inning to keep UF alive. First baseman Jac Caglianone<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/jac-caglianone/16365> added to the heroics with a two-run home run in the 11th inning to win it. Down 1-0 after four innings in the finale, Florida erupted for 12 runs in the final four frames to run-rule the Tigers, 12-2 in eight innings.

HISTORIC GATOR TATERS
As part of a six-homer onslaught in game three at No. 5 LSU, Evans, Caglianone and outfielder/infielder Tyler Shelnut<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/tyler-shelnut/16376> connected for back-to-back-to-back jacks in the eighth inning. It marked UF's first set of three-consecutive homers in 19 years – since Brian Jeroloman, Brandon McArthur and Brian Leclerc accomplished the feat vs. FSU on June 10, 2005.

MURDERER'S ROW
The first four hitters in the UF lineup each sport an OPS above 1.100: Caglianone (1.254), Shelton (1.163), Shelnut (1.133) and Evans (1.123). All four batters are hitting over .300 with a slugging percentage above .650. Adding in second baseman Cade Kurland<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/cade-kurland/16372> (.927) and catcher/designated hitter Luke Heyman<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/luke-heyman/16370> (.922), the top-six in the Gators' lineup have accounted for 49 of the team's 53 home runs and have driven in 139 of UF's 185 runs (75.1%).

FRIDAY NIGHT NEELS
Two weeks removed from SEC Pitcher of the Week and NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week honors, All-American right-hander Brandon Neely<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/brandon-neely/16373> is set to make his season debut in the weekend rotation as Florida's Friday night starter. Serving as UF's closer all of last season, Neely's last start came on June 6, 2022 in the last game of the season vs. No. 9 Oklahoma. He spun 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball on four hits, zero walks and five strikeouts before weather ended his outing. In 10 career starts, Neely is 2-3 with a 3.60 ERA, .197 batting average against, 54 strikeouts and 16 walks in 50 innings. He enters with an active eight-inning scoreless streak spanning five appearances. In that time, he has 13 strikeouts against two walks, allowing just two hits for a minuscule .080 batting average against.

GARY ON GUARD
Defensive guru Tanner Garrison<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/tanner-garrison/16622> owns a 1.000 fielding percentage across 113 chances behind the plate and leads the SEC with six runners caught stealing. Garrison has thrown out six of seven would-be base stealers this season for an absurd 85.7% caught stealing rate.

OH, WHAT A RELIEF IT IS
Across the three-game series at No. 5 LSU last weekend, Florida relievers combined for 10 2/3 shutout innings featuring 3 2/3 frames from true freshmen. Seven pitchers threw in relief in the series and posted a collective .171 batting average against.

TICKING TYME BOMB
Evans is on an unprecedented tear at the plate, owning 11 multi-hit games in Florida's last 14 contests (including 9 of 11). Across the last 14 games, he is hitting .433/.477/.700 with four home runs. Evans ranks second on the team in batting average (.387), on-base percentage (.467), hits (36) and multi-hit games (12) behind Caglianone. He has hits in 21 of his 23 games this year.

JAC OF ALL TRADES
Not only is Caglianone pacing UF in batting (.402), OBP (.479), slugging (.775) and hits (41) on top of 12 homers (t-first), but he has been the team's best pitcher through six weeks. The southpaw is 3-0 on a team-low 1.65 ERA and .130 batting average against, and ranks second in strikeouts with 39 in 27 1/3 innings. In his last four starts, Caglianone has allowed two earned runs across 24 1/3 innings on 10 hits, 16 walks and 32 strikeouts. Caglianone's .130 BAA is second in the SEC behind Hagen Smith while his 1.65 ERA ranks sixth. He has also improved his offensive approach, drawing 13 walks against 11 strikeouts in 102 at bats.

SHELLY STEAKS
Leading Florida with 18-extra base hits and 10 doubles this season, Shelnut is enjoying a breakout campaign backed by a .306/.427/.706 slash line. Shelnut also paces Florida with nine-multi RBI games and has reached base safely in a team-best 11-straight contests.

BELTIN' SHELTON
In his first season in Orange & Blue, Shelton is tied with Caglianone for the team lead in home runs (12), sitting t-second in the SEC behind Charlie Condon (17). Shelton is slashing .301/.432/.731 on the season and his team-high 30 runs are tied for seventh in the SEC.

MCNEILLIE MAGIC
Coming off three-straight scoreless outings spanning 5 2/3 innings, right-handed pitcher Luke McNeillie<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/luke-mcneillie/16629> has lowered his ERA from 17.28 to 10.29. Over the weekend at LSU, McNeillie blanked the Tigers across 2 1/3 shutout frames to help Florida deliver the comeback victory in game two.

SULLY SUPERLATIVES
Since O'Sullivan's 2008 arrival, no college program has more CWS trips (eight), Super Regionals hosted (nine), top-eight national seeds (10) and NCAA Tournament bids (15) than the Florida Gators. Overall, Florida's 15-straight NCAA bids represent the second-longest active streak in the sport. The Gators have also hosted 12 NCAA Regionals out of a possible 15 during O'Sullivan's tenure (no NCAA Tournament in 2020), which ranks first in the nation. Looking at the SEC specifically, Florida's .617 winning percentage (277-172) since 2008 is the top mark in the conference.
