Not sure that is true. Jamar Chaney for example is actively recruiting and he will continue to do so.
Pretty sure Michi is right, but that doesn't mean only on field coaches are designated. I like the idea that we might have some great X's and O's guys who aren't blazers on the recruiting trail, but we have people that are great recruiters out there doing that work. It's tough to find guys who are great coaches and also great recruiters, this way they don't all need to be.

Yes because Ryan O’Hara is actively recruiting as well.

That is an incredible number. Curious to see the impact it has with the remainder of recruiting season.

This all sounds good but we better also be competitive with the NIL stuff or we won't be getting nearly the highest level 4 stars and 5 stars that A&M, Bama, LSU and Georgia will be getting. It sounds like those schools are going to be buying recruits right out in the open now.

Already doom and gloom. Classic.

NIL will even itself out in time.

And how can you not see at this point what Billy is doing with staff structure, etc. ? This is where it has to start, I believe he has something like 3-4 staffers who will be dedicated to the latest trends for NIL.

I just had a discussion with a Michigan fan friend and said I have never seen a school so proud of at least we made it. And he made it clear that UM has no desire to change their structure and effort to be competitive with UGA and Bama. They will stay status quo and hope to win a few conference titles here and there.

We are joining the ranks to do what it takes to win a National title. Surprisingly, not a lot of schools are willing to do that. So lets embrace we are moving in the right direction.

What worries me some is those schools are not holding back when it comes to that. A&M is probably the biggest example so far of how it can elevate recruiting. Standard market value NIL isn't going to cut it. Just hope our boosters will play that game with them.

You likely aren’t competing with A&M when it comes to money & NIL. Same goes for Texas. Those 2 schools are on the verge of some major recruiting battles now that NIL is a part of the game. UF has a lot of money, etc but there are some schools that we can’t match dollar for dollar either.

New #Gators assistant William Peagler was named FootballScoop's Running Backs Coach of the Year for his work at Michigan State in 2021. That means UF now has 2 of the last 3 Running Backs Coach of the Year winners. Jabbar Juluke won it in 2019.

As much as I would love to jump on the “too much ULL” bandwagon, most of these people he is bringing are in positions that have never existed here before.

There are things Billy does/plans to do I am unsure of, the fact we have added so many positions is impressive.
Michi,

We can only hope that the time Billy spent at Bama under Saban has given him insights into the Dark Lord of Tuscaloosa's mind set & how he out schemes other coaches & programs.

Agree that our recruiting infrastructure looks bad when compared to the SEC's big 3 - A&M, Bama, & UGA - & we needed a drastic overhaul !

Not because they have more people but because they are getting results & we aren't.

IMO, adding all this off the field coaching staff/overhead isn't impressive until they actually accomplish something tangible - recruit a top 5 class; win an SEC title; get into the CFP; etc.- none of which will happen this year.

But getting Trey Dean to turn down the NFL combine & return for his 5th year is definitely a step in the right direction.

Signing a few more quality 4* players at positions of need on NSD would be another good step.

That's good but what backs do we have besides Bowman and Lingard.

Gonna have to recruit some. It isn’t like Bowman and Lingard aren’t talented players.
Paco,

Surprised Lingard didn't transfer.

Citizen & Etienne mentioned as possible; Etienne more than Citizen - but talk, as always, is cheap.

Until they sign, you got nothing - as FSU found out with Hunter.

FWIW, Etienne is supposed to announce Saturday after the AA game in San Antonio.

I am not sure Billy will be the guy because I honestly think his offensive scheme is terrible.

but to have this structure in place is important and he has actually done some nice things recruiting wise in a short time

But please don’t confuse me with someone who thinks this is a sure thing. I don’t believe that, but I do believe having this structure is the key to having any chance going forward

Michi,

Probably can't match NIL $$ with A&M, Bama, UGA, etc but strongly agree with you on the necessity of having a comparable infrastructure.

Even if that's all Billy accomplishes, it's a big deal. Once its created, the cost to maintain it will become built in - a sunk cost, & the next HC will have it & be able use it.

Correct. It will be a thing going forward, Billy or anyone else

Support staff can recruit on campus only UNLESS a coaching position has not been filled, then they can go out and recruit.

Believe he was a strength coach at Bama years ago, one of our family friends kids played there when he was there.
Correct - This is his coaching history:

Well it looks like I was right about how Billy would go about the OC position. I'm interested to see how that's going to play out.
