The MLB Draft starts in mid-July but there is already some talk about the MLB Draft with some prospects moving up in some board while some are dropping. Here's what I've heard in regards to Florida Gators players and commits.

Jud Fabian- This should be his last season at Florida. Fabian is probably a mid-to-late first round pick as of today. Teams have noticed that his plate disciplined has improved a ton and he already has the same amount of walks he had last season in 19 less games. Power numbers are still up and cross checkers are confident he can play CF at the next level.

Sterlin Thompson- Even though he's a sophomore, Thompson is draft eligible due to his age (he'll be 21 in about two months). Thompson is definitely a Top 40-50 prospect and might even sneak into the first round. However, Thompson will likely have to be signed for over-slot value due to the fact he still has two more years of eligibility.

Hunter Barco- As we all know, Barco is out indefinitely with elbow discomfort. Teams are waiting to find out the severity of injury before deciding where to put Barco on their draft board. If it wasn't for the injury, Barco would be a second round pick the latest. Barco's draft position is up in the air until scouts/cross checkers find out what's the issue with his elbow.

Brandon Sproat- Sproat is moving up on most teams boards as he's shown that he can be a starting pitcher at the next level. His power fastball is definitely his best tool and possess one of the best fastballs this draft class. There is some reliever risk with Sproat but I doubt any teams takes him in the first two rounds unless he closes the season strong.

Colby Halter- Another draft-eligible sophomore is Colby Halter. The Gators second baseman has struggled against SEC competition but is still considered to be a Top 200 prospect this draft class. IMO, I think Halter is not going to get the money he wants because of his .165/.276/.243 with a .519 OPS. As of now, I expect Halter to return to Florida for his junior season in 2023.

Florida's 2022 Recruiting Class- The Florida Gators recruiting class isn't a Top 5 or 10 recruiting class since they only have 11 high school signees and Perfect Game doesn't include JUCO commits (Florida has 3). The Gators also have one of their top 2023 commits, Cade Kurland, signed early and plans to enroll in the summer. The only high prospect that I do not think makes it to the class is first baseman Xavier Isaac. The 6'4" 240 pound first baseman out of North Carolina has tremendous raw power and is a Top 150 draft prospect. Right-handed pitcher Jake Clemente will also be a tough prospect to keep but if he makes it to Florida, he's an instant impact arm IMO
