They lost a ton and have had player after player opting out like crazy. I dont see how they can even compete with the Bamas, Georgias, or Floridas.

According to Georgia fleas, it doesn't matter how many players you lose as long as you have high recruiting rankings every year. Evidently, there are an infinite number of top quality players on your squad as long as some third party recruiting service thinks you recruited well.

Remember this next time you are thumping your chests over your latest ranking

I could care less about rankings. I always say if coach is happy with the kids he got, then I'm happy.

I'm all about winning January trophies. February trophies are something wannabee programs get excited about.

Feel free to show me where I ever said different.

Predictions -
LSU TIGERS: 6 WINS

FLORIDA GATORS: 7 WINS

GEORGIA BULLDOGS: 8 WINS

In the last 15 years, no defending national champion has lost as many starters as LSU - 17, and the two closest teams (14 starters lost) failed to win double-digit games, so why the expectation that LSU will simply reload without Heisman winner Joe Burrow at quarterback, a stable of receivers and six NFL players from the defense?

Oh, and not to mention the departures of the architect of the offense (Joe Brady) and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda?

The Tigers went 15-0. Ed Orgeron and Co. captured a National Championship on top of an SEC Championship. The Tigers took home the Heisman Trophy, the Biletnikoff Award, the Thorpe Award, multiple Coach of the Year honors and plenty more.

When the NFL Draft rolled around, LSU set an SEC record and tied the NCAA record with 14 total players drafted, including five first-round picks. 48 hours after the draft ended, 20 total Tigers had agreed to NFL contracts.

But Wait; There's More -

The bleeding has not stopped there for the defending National Champions.

On Monday, LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase announced that he was opting out of the 2020 season and would begin to prepare for the NFL Draft.

Hours later, reports surfaced that LSU defensive tackle Tyler Shelvin has also opted out of the 2020 season. Sources tell the Geaux247 staff that he will begin to prepare for the NFL Draft, as well.

The news came on the same day that LSU defensive end T.K. McLendon entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Ahead of fall camp, senior defensive end Neil Farrell announced that he was opting out of the 2020 season, but did plan to return in 2021. That wasn't the case for senior defensive back Kary Vincent Jr., who opted out of the season and will prepare for the draft instead of a return to college.

Between four players opting out of the 2020 season, players dismissed from the program and transfers, 14 additional players have left the roster this off-season.

LSU entered fall camp earlier this month with 31 players gone from the 2019 roster. Now, that number is up to 34.

The Tigers returned 49 scholarship players from the 2019 team, which includes players put onto a scholarship after joining the team, like punter Zach Von Rosenberg and kickoff specialist Avery Atkins.

Orgeron and the staff signed a top five class in February, later adding two graduate transfers to bring the incoming number of players to 24. The Tigers have one scholarship spot left from the 2020 class that could be carried over into the 2021 class, or used on another transfer ahead of the fall season.

With just 70 total players on scholarship, the Tigers are well under the 85-man scholarship limit, meaning a handful of walk-ons are likely to earn scholarships for the 2020 season.

Bottom line: How LSU is ranked in the top 5 on some voters' ballots is beyond me.

With LSU barely having enough players to field a team & losing so much talent - players & coordinators, IMO, Gators will get the win in The Swamp.

Leaves TAMU in College Station & Dawgs in Jacksonville as our toughest tests.

I think any idea that LSU was going to be elite this year ended when Chase opted out. I haven't forgotten watching him run away from our secondary last year. He was worth a good 14 points a game. Without him, LSU will be fairly ordinary.

Also you cannot discount that for most teams, winning a national championship was just having that ONE year where it all falls together. Coaching and players are a big part but having a favorable schedule also matters and that definitely fell into LSU's lap in 2019. We had to play them AT LSU AT NIGHT. It was possibly the weakest Alabama team that they have faced in a decade as well and Auburn had a Freshy QB running the show. Everyone else just got run over, but the schedule definitely set up well for them. It doesn't necessarily do the same in 2020.

Totally agree that Bama without Tua was a different team. Which is crazy, when you consider how many Saban Bama teams won titles with average QB's.

I also believe we beat LSU in a 3:30 game. I don't care what LSU fans claim, whenever the UF-LSU game involves a really good UF team, we play there at night.

GEORGIA BULLDOGS: Revised to 6 WINS - who plays QB ?

Obviously, 8 win prediction & winning SEC Championship written before Jamie Newman opted out.

Dawgs, 2-3 coming into Cocktail Party.

Reminds me of Jim McElwain's last season; but luckily, from the other side.

Another poster on this board compared Kirby Smart to Ron Zook - good recruiter, good defensive coach / coordinator, but can't even spell offense.

Starting to agree !

Saving Dawgs' season, with or without Newman, going to be hard !
