LSU has played 4 FBS teams ( and one FCS team ) and Joe Burrow and their offense has been tearing it as he already has 22 TD’s and only 3 Int’s. so I decided to look at who they have played and although he’s good, these stats show he hasn’t played the cream of the crop in terms of pass defense.

There are 130 teams in the FBS rankings and the ranks of the teams LSU has played in terms of passing yards allowed are:

103. Georgia Southern.
114. Utah State University.
118. Vanderbilt and
126. Texas which really surprised me.

Of course Burrows did add to those stats. The Gators are ranked #19 at 186 yards a game. As it is in most games, the trenches, especially our DL vs. L.S.U.’s OL and if we can get to or rattle Burrow into some bad throws will probably decide the game. You gotta think we are practicing the silent count with the LOUD speakers blaring at practice this week.

That's what I've been saying this week. Saturdaydownsouth had a write up on this and I was stunned at how bad the defenses LSU has faced this year are. Who would have ever thought that Texas isn't even in the top 100 of total defense for this year and down in the 120's on pass defense?

Yes I do take into account that each one of these teams is a bit worse in their stats BECAUSE they faced LSU, but not a single one of them has shown a single good defensive game at all this season so far and we're halfway through the 2019 season. At this point you are what your stats say you are, and LSU hasn't faced a single defense all season.

Win or lose, we are not going to have them score 2 more TD's than us when it comes to the final score.

I also love how everyone is claiming we are at full strength now when Jabari Zuniga STILL hasn't played and we STILL won't have our most explosive player on offense in Kadarius Toney till the Georgia game IF THAT. They might as well go ahead and just medically redshirt Toney for the season at this point. He won't have played in 2 of the 3 big games on our schedule for 2019.

To quote you "at this point you are what your stats say you are". So, to follow your logic LSU's "O" is the bees knees. Or does your statement pertain to everyone but LSU?

You seem so defensive. Relax. You beat Texas....umm, ok. The rest is simply NOT that impressive. You won with a lot of points against poor defensive teams. Hip hip hooray. You will have to drastically improve to beat us by ANY significant margin, if at all. To me, your home field advantage is the LONE advantage I see for ya. The rest is a wash. But we will see soon who is correct..

Just saw on SportsCenter that Texas has 2 of their starters in their secondary out for tomorrow, Hurts may throw for 500 yards.

Defensive. If you say so. I'm just responding to stuff gator fans are posting.

Gator fans are sure putting a lot of stock in it's elite "D". What offensive powerhouses have they faced to make their numbers more legit?

Can you explain this to me? With all those negative plays (sacks and TFLs) by the gator "D" why is LSU's defensive yard per player lower than UFs? Total defense is just a couple yards apart. LSU allows fewer rushing yards per game. Gators allow fewer passing yards.

As for LSU's advantages besides home field. Offense in general. QB and Oline in particular. Slight edge to LSU at WR. RB tigers have more depth.

Defense hard to say with not knowing about how much guys returning from injury will play tomorrow. LSU hoping to return three starters to front seven. Might not start but hopefully get some quality snaps.
