SEC, ACC, and Big 12 should agree to join together to form a playoff for the 2020 Fall CFB National Championship.
The winners of each conference plus one wild-card (selected by a panel of "experts" or based on National Polls) play semi-finals on Saturday before Christmas and championship game the week after.

I don't expect the Big 10 and the PAC12 to even have a full season if a season at all in the Fall. Time will tell, but if a Fall season can be pulled off successfully, this would be a huge blow to the Big 10 and the PAC 12 going forward.

Seriously, if you were a big time recruit...are you looking at the Big 10 or PAC 12 right now?

I would be totally for it. We should all collectively shit talk the big 10/pac 12 in recruiting as well. Send them to the G5 level. If the 3 main conferences play, its nighty night for the 2 smaller, much weaker conferences.

I just want to see football....it would be cool to see some different match ups too. With all this craziness it would be nice to see some players allowed to play. Hopefully some conferences stay in. Don't even have a crowd put play.

If there even is a spring football season for those other conferences I wouldn’t expect to be more than 6 games. There is no way they will risk injury to their teams for a full 2021 season. They’ll do division only schedules to play for a conference championship to play in a Rose Bowl.

SEC must decide if it wants to fight a world war in college sports

"...if the SEC, ACC and Big 12 want to have a true College Football Playoff, even though the Big Ten and Pac-12 have opted out, that is their right."

"...I (Zemek) have my reservations about holding a four-team playoff with only three major conferences left to play (if we’re able to play football at all), but the argument that the Big Ten and Pac-12 didn’t consult the other conferences, and therefore have to live with their own choices, is entirely reasonable.

After all, this wasn’t a group decision made by all Power Five conferences. EVERY conference is acting on its own, so if some conferences want to stop and other conferences want to play, there is no unanimous agreement on the ground rules. Therefore, the conferences sticking it out can reasonably claim to have the playoff — and the money from a playoff — for themselves."

Have a playoff and a national title, but don't view it as official

"...Here in Pac-12 country at Trojans Wire, the Rose Bowl is a sacred event. Yes, as part of the scheduled 2021 College Football Playoff, the Rose Bowl — a semifinal game — was probably not going to have a Pac-12 team anyway. A team from a non-Pac-12 conference was likely to fly into Pasadena to play this semifinal.

However, the Rose Bowl should ALWAYS be a game in which Pac-12 and Big Ten teams at least have the CHANCE to compete for a berth in it.

If we have a College Football Playoff now, the Rose Bowl will not be pursued by any Big Ten or Pac-12 team.

That’s not right.

So, we arrive at a point where the three remaining Power Five conferences ought to be able to have a national championship competition, but should not use the Rose Bowl or the official playoff system as vehicles for that competition.

The compromise position is simple:

Let’s throw out the official playoff structure this year — much as Major League Baseball adjusted its playoff system for one year — and come back to that official structure in the 2021 season when we can hopefully get back to normal.

For this one season, under these conditions — if, of course, we are able to play in the Big 12, ACC, and SEC — just negotiate your own deal with ESPN. Have your own semifinals closer to home. Then play a title game at a new location.

STAY OUT OF MY GODDAMN ROSE BOWL ! LOL

Have your own tournament. Have your own money pot. Don’t use the official system or the official labeling or branding of a playoff when nearly half of the FBS has already bailed on the season, with more conferences possibly doing so in the near future.

You can have your playoff and national title, but make it your own playoff with your own label. Call it the Southern Football Playoff or the Three Conference (Tri Alliance) Playoff.

Zemek must have got this idea from me, but he's got the pulpit so I'll allow him to run with it.

Zemek needs to get a grip. Back when the Rose Bowl was always Big ? vs Pac ?, the games were boring affairs. The games got much better when some actually good teams started playing there. It's not some hallowed ground that only the exalted may walk upon, and heck, if it was, it'd be two SEC teams playing there. If any conference is exalted, it's ours.
