This board is in a meltdown mode and shouldn't be. Let's try and exam the facts, OBJECTIVELY:

1. This wasn't Georgia Southern. We lost to a veteran SEC team on the road, who was favored by most OBJECTIVE pundits at the beginning of the season to win the SEC East. On Sunday night, they were favored by most people who had money to bet on it, to win the game by two scores, which is exactly what they did. In spite of this, we win our remaining 6 SEC games and we will still prove the pundits wrong.

2. We had ample opportunity to win this game had our coaching staff kept its cool, and played with the exact same risk profile as they did in the first half. I'm sure they would like a redo. Lesson learned. Mac better not roll up like a little puss when he gets in that position, ever again. He should watch the Ole Miss tape from last year as a reminder.

3. Our offense is very young, and got rattled in the second half. Regardless, this offense can score. And even without our starter, our second string quarterback is very capable of taking us the rest of the distance. Think of how far the offense and the QB position have come since the second half of last year. It's head and shoulders better than what it was, and capable of winning the rest of our SEC schedule.

4. Our defense, and all of the stupid little trash talkers on it, went in to the locker room at halftime and thought the game was over. They were not mentally ready to handle a major change in momentum in the second half, which they eventually faced. They played like spineless little playground bullies who ran away the minute they faced adversity. They GAVE UP. But, this was a MENTAL loss by this defense, not a physical one. Should be lesson learned. Just keep your mouths shut, and keep the pedal to the metal for 60 minutes. If they get their heads screwed back on properly, they are still very capable of beating our remaining 6 SEC opponents.

5. This hurts more than it should because most of the posters on this board had their expectations way TOO HIGH coming in to this season, and particularly coming in to this game. Most people on this board had this in the "sure win, because Tennessee is Tennesee" box, when they should have had it in the "likely loss on the road against a veteran SEC rival" box.

6. This team and this program are still rebuilding. We saw blinding glimpses of that today. And no, we are not firing Mac, and hiring Tom Herman. No need. This team, and these coaches, are capable of picking themselves up, dusting themselves off, and winning the SEC East. We, as Gator fans, and premium members of ITG, need to do the exact same thing. Relax, be objective, and get excited about the rest of the season we have in front of us. This season did not end today.
