I doubt that myself but if it happens I will be more ticked off than when we ended up with Mac. Mullen hasn't shown anything to suggest he would bring us back to the very elite of college football. I don't care if he is at Miss State - luck alone would probably give you more than one winning SEC record in 9 years and more than like 2 or 3 wins out of that many top 25 matchups you were involved in. Heck the SEC has been really down the past couple of seasons also and he still hasn't upped his results that much hardly.
I could see this. Stricklin misses out on high profile coach, goes with safe bet whom he worked with previously.
How do we lose out on Kelly to a loser program like UCLA? Just screams that UF is no longer a top job, as if the previous hires of Muschamp and Mac already didn’t. Stricklin whiffed big time.

Florida officials are scheduled to meet with UCF coach Scott Frost's representatives in Orlando this weekend as the Gators are preparing to move on in case former Oregon coach Chip Kelly chooses the UCLA job, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Edward Aschoff.
Sources said that Kelly has not informed the Gators of a decision, but Florida officials feel their chances of landing the current ESPN analyst have diminished since meeting with him at his home in New Hampshire last Sunday.
Kelly met with UCLA officials in Los Angeles on Tuesday and is expected to make a decision between Florida and UCLA in the coming days.

What Mullin has done in Starkville is nothing short of remarkable..... QB's he's coached are Alex Smith, Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott and now Nick Fitzgerald. The guy can coach!!!!
Mullen hasn't done anything impressive even with the decent level of recruits he gets. He routinely gets top 25 classes. Shouldn't he be able to do more with those level of recruits if truly was a talented coach? I say thumb's down on Mullen. He's average and always will be.

Decent recruits? Noone has been able to get any real numbers of 4 star players, much less any 5 star players to that program in its history. Mullin just took Bama to the wire with 2 and 3 star guys. Bama played nothing but 4 and 5 star guys. What could you possibly have against this man? He is for real!
Disagree - the guy couldn't even pull a winning SEC record when the SEC was down the last couple of years. His record is pitiful in top 25 matchups and lesser teams scare the top dogs all the time in college football.
He wins over 8 games a year with extremely inferior talent. Look at MSU's other coaches records within the conference.
His talent isn't that damn bad as he has put people in the NFL. Sherrill had 4 winning SEC seasons in his first 9 years before the collapse at the end. I think Mullen is like 33-39 in SEC play even getting Kentucky as their constant East foe.
He develops talent. Look at Fitzgerald. He was barely a 3 star player coming out of high school. He will be drafted in the first 2 rounds when he comes out now.
I was hoping for sure. Chip would win a ton of games for us. When he started playing us against ucla I got tired of that really quick. UF is a top 5-10 job in America and they don't even care about football in LA. As Lawrence Wright said " if you ain't a Gator you're Gator bait!"
I'd rather take a chance on Frost or Norvell than a has been like Mullen who pulls top 25 classes but never wins crap. Norvell gets something like 70th ranked classes and does more with them. Frost gets around 50th ranked classes and did more with his players too.

Mullen just does absolutely nothing for me.
I think he’s a step above Zook and has an offensive mind but that’s about it.
He’s going to blow a couple of games every year, have an 8 win disaster and then an 11 win year and back to 9-10 ad Infinitum at Florida.
Maybe he likes the west coast more than the east coast. Maybe he likes the idea of once more competing in the PAC-10 more attractive than competing in the SEC.
There are a lot of different, plausible reasons other than "UF is no longer a top job."
Realistically we probably aren't getting Frost with him having played at Nebraska. I think I am going into the mode now of just hoping it isn't Mullen or Strong.
I just think frost is going to Nebraska. Charlie strong would be the feel good hire but he would need someone that can develop a QB right now!

Charlie Strong was a great assistant coach at UF for many years, is a great recruiter and an all-around good guy. He did a super job at Louisville and will do fine at USF. I just don't think he's the right fit for what this Gator program needs.

Well who would you want now? Norvelle? Holgerson? Mullen? Campbell? I'd rather have someone with Florida loyalty than any other second tier coach

We've been hearing from "sources that we trust" for 2 weeks that Chip Kelly was coming to UF and that's doesn't appear to be true either. 2 days ago Pete Thamel from Yahoo Sports said Frost was coming to Florida. Until the press conference is held anything can happen. And just because 1 guy has an opinion or knows someone who knows someone says so doesn't mean it's a fact. Let's see what happens.
Lars is friends with Scott Frost. Lars is responsible for Lawrence Phillips documentary as well as Brook Berringers documentary. Matt Davison who played with Frost has also claimed it’s a done deal. But will see in about a week.
There is a good chance Frost ends up at Nebraska. With that being said as good of a coach as he is I think he would struggle there. Even though it’s his alma mater I don’t think his style of offense is a good fit for Nebraska.
it’s going to be tough for him to turn down UF. This could easily be his only shot at a big time job in his career. If he takes the Nebraska job and wins 7 and 8 games every year, that’s a one way ticket to Pelini-ville.
Nebraska hasn't been relevant in nearly 20 years and since joining the Big 10(14) has been very mediocre. Seems like it's time as a national power has passed due to demographics. Not sure even a big name coach can recruit kids to Lincoln in enough numbers to be a Top 10 program on a consistent level like can be done at Florida. But, like Chip Kelly, it's going to come down to a personal decision about what he wants to do with his life and where he & his family want to live. Hope it's Gainesville.
