Irrelevant football program...

When’s it’s the only game on TV after a 200+ day CFB drought you should expect high ratings.
Mmmm isn’t there a game or games every year that is on opening day as the only game on TV? This isn’t like the first time this has ever happened???

This is the first "zero week", though. Typically, we see a Monday Night college football game on Labor Day Night (only game on) after a weekend of football. Last night's was a first.

Wasn't the only game on. And like already mentioned there's a primetime matchup every year, usually on labor day between two highly ranked teams to draw a lot of eyes. And that's not even taking into account all the other highly rated matchups on ESPN throughout the regular season, both cross-conference and in-conference, on ESPN over the last 3 years. Matchups that in theory should have had more people watching than this one.

Week 0 or not it's impressive to have the most watched game on ESPN in 3 years.

Clueless as always. Miami’s defense was ranked in the top 5 last year, they lost games because they had one of the worst offenses in the country coached by Richt, not because they aren’t talented. I’m sure we’d have looked like world beaters if we started out with Vandy tho

Competition matters. Go back and look at the prolific offenses Miami faced last year o_O

You haven’t looked like world beaters since Urban left, and you certainly didn’t on Saturday night.

And I guess the NFL is just clueless too then? How many players on Miami’s defense were drafted last year and how many are projected to be drafted this year ? Someone should let NFL teams know they don’t play anybody. They have the best LB group in football for one. So yea...still clueless.

And great; you’ve looked like world beaters never. You were almost great once though so you have that going for you.

Don't know how anyone could see this game as anything but a complete embarrassment all around. It was hilarious as a rival fan though.

And you haven’t been world beaters since 1980...
Didn’t say we were. Said you haven’t looked like world beaters. We’ve dominated several teams in the last two years, thus “looked” like world beaters at times.

Guess I expected more from a Mullen coached team after hearing you all talk him up as this great QB guru and game-day coach

Yeah, well, we once had the worst defense in the sec and all 11 players made NFL rosters.

The top 10 total defense rankings for 2018 also included the likes of southern miss, Appalachian state, Cincinnati, and Army. Competition matters...

What year was that?

Do you know what advanced stats are? They adjust for things like strength of offense. Look them up and let me know where Miami was ranked before you keep talking out of your ass.

Here let me help your ignorance. S&P has Miami at:

14th in total defense
12th in success rate
5th in pass defense
6th in success on standards down.

Other advanced metrics have them even higher. That accounts for everything from strength of opponent offense to success on certain types of downs. Thanks for embarrassing yourself once again.

Complete embarrassment. Complete embarrassment probably would fall in line with FSUs season and home opener last season. It’s never an embarrassment to win a game against a rival.

You’re the one bragging about Miami, not me. Talk about embarrassing...

Dude it was bad. Somebody had to win. Miami OL looked like ours from last year. The hilarity came from the other stuff. Franks antics and smack talk and then throwing a terrible pick. Mullen going crazy. Spurrier.gif. UF db Superman tackle on air. Diaz wasting all the timeouts. Miami fake field goal with holding+out of bounds hit=missing 20 yard field goal. Pass interference on 4th and 36.

Not sure I would be bragging about running fake punts to beat Miami...
For real? You mean a program that is an in-state rival and has much more history & prestige than your regional program? I’m not sure I’m following.

I agree it was a sloppy game but beating an in-State rival is never embarrassing. Not as embarrassing as your opening game last season or FSUs season in general last year. I’m sure there are much more things more embarrassing that beating an in-state rival no matter how sloppy the game was.

I don’t think you are going to find any UF fans embarrassed about winning that game. You may have more luck on the Miami board however since they actually lost.

No one bragged idiot. The point is they have a formidable defense despite their record last year. Of course you didn’t know that but just couldn’t wait to jump in the thread and show your ignorance. Water is wet.

He’s an idiot. Plain and simple. Wonder where he was when Smart was losing games to Vandy, GT and UT all in 1 year?

I knew Kirby was building for the future and there was no reason to get too high or too low in season one of a new head coach. I have a feeling you all got way too high on Mullen’s 10 win season last year and things are about to backfire in a big way, as many have predicted.

Yes, the same team that hasn’t won the ACC since joining.
Miami hasn't been good for about 17 years. Basically some good players here and there at certain positions combined with bad coaching. That looks to continue. Times have changed. Miami is a small private school with a tiny alumni base that really can't compete in terms of money spent on facilities and recruiting.
