In this thread we are civil

My friend in Alabama who had the neighbor with COVID let us know she passed this evening. 27 days at UAB in B-ham on ventilator, etc.
Late 50's wife and Grandma who had a previous case of COVID and thought she had immunity, so didn't get vaxxed.

Their neighborhood is devastated.

I’m very sorry. Sincere condolences. How is your relative doing?

He had a tough night but he's improving a lot today. They're making him get up and move around.
His cousin's (my nephew) wife is an RN (UF grad) at Mayo and she has been checking on him constantly. He is always glad to see her since he can't have visitors.
We're feeling hopeful.

Why would the antibodies developed from recovering from Covid be any different than those vaccine would provide?

They are different. According to several studies natural antibodies are likely more robust and have a more broad array of protection.

The biggest argument for vaccine despite having natural antibodies is "we don't know how long your antibodies will last."

Correct me if I'm wrong but they don’t know how long vaccine antibodies will last either...so this logic escapes me.

I will say this...if I don't have covid again after the week I've had so far, my natural antibodies will from here forward be referred to as "Saban and Thor's love-child antibodies."

I suppose it would be timing. Like the Antibodies from her initial infection may have waned.

Agree, that is true. The immune cell memory "thingy," if I'm saying that correctly (pretty sure adding thingy blew my chance at that), would be the only thing that could help.

And IIRC, that was only a theory...but the theory was based on something they saw in either The Cleveland Clinic study or the Emory study.

I seem to always have half the information needed to know a damn thing. 😂 You're all welcome.
