Illinois is now entering the Purge

I agree with much of what you've said ITT and perhaps even here because it's possible that I've misunderstood you.

One doesn't need to offend fellow sinners or even non-believers to share the fellowship of Christ. In fact I can make a damn good argument that it's counter-intuitive.

There's a time for hard truths and there's a time for love and compassion. This is just my experience but where God has used me to make an impact on others was when I was simply doing as God commanded, by being obedient to Him and allowing His example make the difference in other's lives.

All I've ever been charged to do is love...and yes, I fall short on that sometimes, but love and let God do the heavy lifting. When I've attempted to use my own judgments and logic, I've always fallen short.

I don't do any of the above at the expense of truth but it's not my purview to cast judgment on others for their sins or shortcomings.
Good point. We must use tact when dealing with people that do not know Christ. But, for those that are hardened of heart and know Christ they are not to be trifled with. You must not allow dust to settle on your feet and go to the people who thirst for his Word.

Agree...but even with that last group, by simply living a Godly life, by being a person who loves his fellow man, you're still sharing Christ. Fellowship multi-tasking if you will.

I do not mean to be intentionally offensive and antagonistic. I mean that the truth, as it is in the Bible, is offensive on its face to the unbeliever. I mean that the modern American Christian is far to willing to water down God's commands in an attempt to be loved by the culture. Jesus Christ was hated during his ministry. He told Jewish leaders who sought to kill him that they were children of the devil. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is OFFENSIVE to those who seek to live a life of darkness, and desire ignorance of its truth. Christians should never water down the truth as a means of thriving in this world.

And as an unwashed heathen living in darkness, I'm pretty sure I know more about that than you do.
Sounds to me like you have hardened your heart. You may have read the words in the Gospel, but with a hardened heart, you are incapable of seeing the truth. I am not trying to offend you. I am not an alter boy. I was once an unwashed sinner sowing wild oates myself. Depraved. Wicked, violent and controlled by own natural desires. Not only have heard and read the Gospel, I have LIVED its transformational power. I know that I am a broken sinner that rely's TOTALLY on the forgiveness and grace of Christ.

Not all unbelievers are offended though. Some are simply unbelievers who haven't been exposed to Christian beliefs or teachings in a way that made sense or resonated.

well, yes it is a different perspective because you believe Jesus is a liar.
I suppose that's technically true.

It's more like nobody dressed in black leather ever woke me up at 7am on a Sunday to ask me if I have heard the good news about the Marquis de Sade.

Guess who has.

Inclusion of proselytization into a religion maybe be the most brilliant and ingenious thing ever.

It's also the most annoying. I allegedly have free will and I'd like to exercise it by wallowing in my own degeneracy in peace, please and thank you.

unless you shape up, im afraid you will have plenty of time for wallowing...but suspect there will be no peace

No matter what our opinions are we all have free will. My faith in Jesus would mean nothing if I was automatically created to follow Christ. I will still pray that you also find him.

Do you think this helps your case? Asking for a friend.
Its not my case. I take no pleasure in it. I know that there is broad road taken by many, and narrow one taken by few. I know that the only way to salvation is to come to the foot of the cross, repent and take the gift He has given to all of us. I want every single one of God's children to accept His gift, and for us all to be together in Paradise. The Bible tells me that this will not be the case. I don't want anyone to settle into spiritual death. I don't know you, but I assume that there is a human being, with a soul on the other end of your screen name. The things you say lead me to believe you have settled into a rut of spiritual decay. I do not want this to happen to anyone, and if a few rough and tumble words could stir the spiritual pot, so be it. I want Christ to work in your heart. Genuinely.

Unless you are a Fisher of Men like the Doc, your concern is both creepy and unwanted. There are several billion people, myself included, who are perfectly happy with their religion and don't want to hear about yours.
Much less concern trolling and virtue signalling.

Bottom line, I don't believe in souls or spirits, so you would do best to worry about your own salvation, as I am wholly unconcerned with mine.

I simply don't care if my love for Christ and for my fellow man is offensive to others. That's their baggage to carry, not mine.

I don't go out of my way to offend people and I don't go out of my way to not offend them.

I guess I don't really care to hear from Jehova Witnesses but it's never really bothered me to ignore them at the door or politely ask them to go away.

On a related note the progressive left sure likes how social media and the rest has led to a lot more younger and middle age single females which are a very likely vote for the democrats and their agenda.

That's you brother. I personally think waking someone up to tell them their religion is wrong makes you a presumptuous asshole.

I live in the deep south. If I wanted to hear from you people it's not like there isn't a church on every corner I could go to to ask about it.

I am personally sorry to hear this, but I respect your decision. We've had a few of these religious discussions on the UK board that have always failed to change anyone's mind. I'll just say that if a person changes their beliefs based on what an anonymous poster has typed on a message board, then their beliefs probably weren't very strong to begin with.

Those of us who profess Christain beliefs are here for you in the unlikely event you have a change of heart.

The question was rhetorical. And even if it wasn't the correct answer was yes, or no.
So just to make sure I understand, I did fetch the post, you did ask? You were disappointed that I answered it, and aggreived at the content of the answer to the question. To further clarify the sting of events, I engaged posters on this board about whether or not the issues we face are political or spiritual. First, you engaged in what is now clear to me a passive aggressive mocking of my point, by placing the dreaded laughing emojii on each one of my posts. When you could no longer stand to be passive, you responded to me with an open ended statement to the effect of....true, but no for the reason you think....almost begging for a response. I gave a short, closed statement of I know what I believe. Then you tell me how you know more about it than I do...not sure how you would come to that conclusion. You begged for an interaction, that you finally got. YOU were the one trolling. Now you cry about what I have to say. Please pardon me, the whole you would do best to X, Y and Z doesn't have any effect on me. I don't intimdate easy, I say what I mean and mean what I say. You can choose to ignore me, thats up to you. But you kinda seem triggered

You still haven't shown me where I asked to be shown the error of my ways or to hear your testimony, because I didn't. Apparently they don't have sarcasm where you're from.

I don't mock passive aggressively. I do it openly. And I feel free to mock people who state belief as fact.

I stand by my statement. The gospel of the Christ is offensive to those who live in darkness, and not because we're offended by Christianity, but because no one asked you, Karen.

Don't mistake being annoyed for being triggered.

I'm not trying to intimidate you. I don't care what you think, nor do I think anyone ever changed their mind because of something said on the internet.

Well, let me speak in your terms. When you openly mock someone, don't be suprised when they give you their unrequested point of view. Like I said, you asked the question but you expected no answer. You were wrong to assume you would get no answer. For someone who doesnt care, you seem to spend a lot of time time bitching and moaning. You are so offended you feel like throwing the ole Karen thing from like 5 years ago out there like thats gonna hurt my feelings. Pathetic. I know what I know, I will say what I would like to say...if you dont want to hear it, ignore it. But for real, most Christian people expect to be responded to the way that you have reponded...youre not an outlier, youre the norm of the culture. If you read the posts that came before YOU CHOSE TO RESPOND TO ME, you would have already known where I was going to come from. I'm not your khacki slacks and polo shirt at the country club Christian.

You did threaten to take your ball and go home not that long ago, so. Don't sit there and act as if you never get riled on a message board. 🤣

Curiosity forces me to ask, what culture would that be?

And yes. That is an actual question and I'd like you to take as much space as you need to answer it.

Simply put, "the culture" is the phrase I use ( and I believe other s use it as well ) when refering to the body of people who sow to the worldly kingdom, rather than the Heavenly Kingdom.

Thanks for clarification but you realize that's through your lens, that is to say your pov and your religion.

I've identified what annoyed me.

"I was once an unwashed sinner... "

What I get from that, and it could be projection, is "like you but then..."

I have never been a Christian. I was raised Hindu and original sin, that's a strange concept to us. More than that it presumes you have similar experiences, and found your life wanting and fixed it with Christianity. Which is fine if that worked for you.

I have no idea what a polo and khaki Christian is I've never seen anyone who dressed like that other than television but I'm thinking Ned Flanders from the Simpsons.

You're assuming you have concept of how I think and my life experiences based on zero data. I have no idea what you have been up to until today and neither does anyone else, so I have no idea if you've gone through something horrific or are a clever salesman.

My heart is not hardened. It's not that I don't understand the Bible or missed the point. It's not that I'm in spiritual decay.

I merely reject your religion, as I'm free to do.
It's not personal, I'm not singling you out, I've rejected every other religion but my own, like every single human being in recorded history.

I live in the deep south, everyone I know is Christian except my mother, my friends are all Christians, every woman I've dated except one insufferable atheist was a Christian, as are 99 percent of the Marines I have served with and the all my Co workers. If I had a problem with Christianity generally or Christians specifically, I would be a very unhappy person.

I think I took issue with your phrasing and went from there.

I used the term unwashed sinner becasue I believe you used the term a few posts above. I know that you used it tongue in cheek, so did I, sort of.....I do think we are all broken sinners in need of forgivenss. I believe we are all wicked in our nature. Seems like you got the point with the Ned Flanders, as was my original point when posting in this thread, societies ills stem from Christians being to afraid to be forceful about the the truth. Im a different breed. You can hate the way I frame it, but that aint changing from me. Luckly for you, I wont be around much. I may stop in for a burst every once in a while, but I hate the internet. Love Gator football. I have no concept of your life, but ( and I know you are gonna hate it, but I aint changing ) we all share one thing...broken sinful hearts. Clever salesman? I almost appreciate this description. Nope, not selling anything. God has been good to me even though I havent deserved it. A wretched depraved man. Now im not a criminal, I found legal outlets for my propensity for violent behavior...legal but not moral, as defined by my heart. Unrestrained fulfilment of my own desires. He still took me back.

Well, they don't recognize Jesus as our Lord and Savior so they are not a Christian faith.
Which is weird. They believe he existed, they believe he was sacrificed on the cross and they believe he is currently ruling the heavenly kingdom. And allegedly they got all this from the same Bible as everyone else.

From JW.ORG:

We believe in Jesus, who said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) We have faith that Jesus came to earth from heaven and gave his perfect human life as a ransom sacrifice. (Matthew 20:28) His death and resurrection make it possible for those exercising faith in him to gain everlasting life. (John 3:16) We also believe that Jesus is now ruling as King of God’s heavenly Kingdom, which will soon bring peace to the entire earth. (Revelation 11:15) However, we take Jesus at his word when he said: “The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) So we do not worship Jesus, as we do not believe that he is Almighty God.
