Twasn't me. I was still mad at Dan though because of him leaving, we got Addazio. That hurt for years.Who was the Gator “fan” that always bashed Mullen because we didn’t hire Norvell?

He’s a great QB developer and offensive coach/play caller. He needs to find a way to improve the defense and recruit a little better and he could win championships here easily.Mullen has to be like one of the best (if not, the best), QB coaches in America. That guy can seemingly get something out of anybody. It is amazing how he gets dudes to maximize their talent. He’s been doing it consistently since he was at Bowling Green with Urb.

No sir.I think it was TennesseeGator. He had some sort of personal relationship with him in Memphis and was really high on him.
Alex Smith, Dak Prescott, Tim Tebow & Kyle Trask. 3 first round picks and guy that just signed a 4 year $160M contract. The only other guys that do just as good of a job with QBs is Lincoln Riley. Are you serious sad unless the bar is really low with quite a few QBs? I will say its not just Mullen who can't do much when a QB doesn't naturally process things well. If they are great runners you will get that but not make them a good passing threat. The last guy he had at Miss State was a perfect example of that. I agree Mullen is great with QBs that have the tools especially after him changing things with Trask and adapting so well.
Just to be "that guy" Dak wasn't a first round pick. But i see your point and agree.Alex Smith, Dak Prescott, Tim Tebow & Kyle Trask. 3 first round picks and guy that just signed a 4 year $160M contract. The only other guys that do just as good of a job with QBs is Lincoln Riley.
Mullen can absolutely put together a game plan. He’s a great QB developer and offensive coach/play caller. He needs to find a way to improve the defense and recruit a little better and he could win championships here easily.

You might as well add Felipe Franks to that list. He played under Mullen than he did Butters or Pittman
If that was my lifestyle these days, I'd definitely invite you! Too old to hang like that.Ah that's right. I forgot about that guy. Sheesh he was a weirdo.
Also, the blackjack tables in Tunica sounds awfully specific to be a lie....hmmmm.
I hope Prescott who was a great college QB proves me wrong but as a Dallas fan he has a hard time getting the score at the end you need to win close games. Can't push it on the long passes you need then like a Rodgers and them do a lot. Very frustrating as a Dallas fan.Just to be "that guy" Dak wasn't a first round pick. But i see your point and agree.

I was in the Frost camp. Glad that didn’t pan out. While we are on the subject I want some honesty from everyone.
When we had openings since Meyer left..or even since Muschamp was fired who yalls choice was. .
I've been a Mullen fan from day 1. He was our best OC in my lifetime (SOS doesn't count) and he had Ms State at their best in my lifetime.
Yes I'll admit I was hyping Norvell
I also was favoring at one point in the processes
Justin Fuente
PJ Fleck
Scott Frost
Blake Anderson
And at some point way back when I wanted to fire Muschamp and get on the Gus Bus
I remember @Michi_Gator drooling over Rich Rod. Seems like he was all for the Frost warning...and I believe he like Chad Morris when he was OC at Clemson. I also think he loved Chip Kelly
@PacoGator19 was all for Frost if I remember correctly. Also think he was a Chip Kelly fan
I can't remember all his choices but @Dannygator1989 was in the Muschamp corner until the very end and still defends him to this day. I also remember you didnt want Mullen when we were in the search before settling on McElwain.
I can't remember but somebody was always wanting Kerwin Bell. Seems like Insta but I am not for sure.
Yall be honest.
I remember some dude a little way back when always pumped for Chan Gailey. I'm serious. I shook my head every time I read his posts.Ah that's right. I forgot about that guy. Sheesh he was a weirdo.
Also, the blackjack tables in Tunica sounds awfully specific to be a lie....hmmmm.
What I am impressed AF with is, we lost TWO receivers from last year that were 1st round draft choices, and these new guys are looking great. Hell, I don't even know what their names are yet. He’s a great QB developer and offensive coach/play caller. He needs to find a way to improve the defense and recruit a little better and he could win championships here easily.
I do remember you were always in the Dan camp. I also remember you coined Kelly Cow Chip from the get go.TG, I wanted Kerwin when the moron hired Charlie Cheeseburger as the OC.
I'd still take Kerwin as an OC, if an opening occurred at UF for an OC.
I wanted Dan from the get-go every time the HC'ing job came open, but I do believe that he needed some 'seasoning time' at MsSt before taking over at UF. I'd have liked to have gotten him post musclecramp.
I thought the DC/Coach-n-waiting at TX was a decent choice at the time.
I also thought that he should have gotten a 4th year. Never know how it might have turned out?
I thought that McLame ColoSt HS and former Saban/UA OC was a decent choice at the time.
I thought that he was a complete idiot with his retread QB choices and said so back then.
Del Rio - Appleby - Zaire --- and then Franks over Trask.
As it turned out, neither Musclecramp nor McLame was ready for or up to the job at UF, hindsight being it's usual 20/20....
I hated Cow-chip Kelly then, and I still do. I disliked most of the rest.
I thought that Frost might work out if Dan didn't take the job, but Frost was my fall back choice.
I was and continue to be thrilled with Dan as the Gator's HC.
Being a position committee and play the roster when possible kind of dude, Dan is my icing on the cake.
Zona...Zoni Gator.. something like that.
That is the oddest way to say "We went to church together" I ever seen.2. We worshipped at the same worship house
Zoni Gator is one of the biggest DBags on this board since I joined.yup. Him
Good coaches are always going to get some NFL talk. That's the way it is. Hopefully he stays in GVille...he could end his career here and win a couple IMO.Dan could get everyone totally behind him if he would stop with the NFL flirting.
There's a chance his name could be added to the USC coaching vacancy.Dan could get everyone totally behind him if he would stop with the NFL flirting.
I said that I wanted Chip Kelly because I felt he was a splash hire and his name would be an immediate boost to recruiting and we would getWhile we are on the subject I want some honesty from everyone.

I liked Frost and Kelly and I always thought Mullen was a good coach just based on how he was doing at Miss St, which too this day was very impressive. With that being said I didn’t like Frost taking all his UCF coaches to Nebraska and I wouldn’t have wanted him to do that if he came to UF. So therefore I wouldn’t have wanted him. While we are on the subject I want some honesty from everyone.

Name one QB that Dan hasn’t gotten maximum performance (for that individual) out of…Are you serious sad unless the bar is really low with quite a few QBs? Thanks for the link. That was a great read. The Coaching Search That Remade Florida Football
In 2017 the top candidates for the Gators' job were Chip Kelly, Scott Frost and Dan Mullen. This is the inside story of how it went down.www.si.com
Three days before visiting Kelly for a second time, members of the search committee drove to Orlando to meet with Frost on Thursday, Nov. 16, two days before Frost’s 9–0 Knights played Temple. They describe the interview with Frost as unimpressive, and they emerged with a similar feeling: He’s not ready for this big of a job.
