No idea on the overdue taxes...not really my area of expertise. As a non-expert, if I was that overdue on taxes from multiple years, I'd be scared shtless of going to federal prison.
On the federal gun charges, normal unprotected people could easily face prison time. It's not at all uncommon.
I'm a Republican and a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I absolutely do not want felons or drug addicts to be able to own or possess firearms. You could sell me on the idea of restoring those rights for rehabilitated individuals, however.

Prosecutors only charge that when its tied to other larger financial crimes
