Along with the last 5 home openers. 2017 they opened at neutral site but also lost their first home game to NC State (original home opener was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma).

And only in 2017 due to last minute re-scheduling shenanigans to preserve the bowl streak (shattered by UF the next season), did they get to finish above .500 (barely).

Will recognize that it was against decent competition: Bama, VT, Boise, GT, ND.

Still, that’s not a good barometer for a program or something fans can hang their hat on.

Thoughts?

Well one individual is an anomaly. I remember a thread on the Kentucky board around 2000 or 2001 titled “We must declare moral victory” after we stomped them. Had like 100 replies.
I agree, nobody bemoans a loss like BigBlue. But my neighbors are uppin' the ante..

This is what a school like f$u should expect… they should be fodder for real teams. When they are treated like a directional Louisiana or tennessee, they’ll be where they deserve.

They’re more the “find an excuse to cancel any curb stomping” type. Or, if you prefer, cowards.
Imagine if the Holes are sitting at 5-6 before their trip to the Swamp.

Declare a covid outbreak and save the beating or try to finish 6-6?

Well if last year is any indication, they will chicken out and hide behind covid or leprosy or the bubonic plague or something. It’s funny… usually their cowardice is less obvious and direct. It’s more moving to a weak conference so you don’t have to play anyone, not just straight up ducking opponents who are better than you. But then again… cowardice is the way of the nole.
