According to McClatchy, it was previously known that vacations the Obamas took during their eight years in office cost taxpayers more than $85 million. Their most well-known vacation, the annual Christmas trip to Hawaii, cost taxpayers about $3.5 million, it was reported.The total includes: The cost of Air Force One and other government planes and helicopters, armored cars, rental cars, medical staff, Secret Service protection and the advance team — plus all of the agents' expenses — among other expenses accrued each time the president travels.
What is the total now?
According to government watchdog group Judicial Watch, the total cost of the Obamas' vacations and travel stands at $105,662,975.27. The organization calculated the number through a series of Freedom of Information Act requests. The figure includes:
- The Obama family vacation to Martha's Vineyard in August 2016 that cost taxpayers $2,684,271.36
- Obama's trip to LA in October 2016 for two campaign fundraisers and an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that cost taxpayers $195,855
- Michelle Obama's infamous trip to Morocco that cost taxpayers $244,218.01
- How much the Secret Service spent during the Obamas' final vacation in Hawaii, which cost taxpayers $1,862,230.74
What about Trump?
Judicial Watch also secured the total amount that President Donald Trump has spent on travel so far: $4,082,427.71. Between him and Vice President Mike Pence combined, they have spent $7,560,425.01.

The total cost to taxpayers for the Obamas’ Ireland trip was $7,921,638.66. To date, the known beyond-first-class travel expenses of the Obamas and Vice President Joe Biden exceed $57 million.
In February, Michelle Obama took a weekend trip to Aspen, Colorado that cost taxpayers a pretty penny; $57,068.80 in travel expenses alone for the 7.4 hour-round trip flight, according to U.S.Air Force records.
As we previously reported, this Aspen trip occurred in tandem with President Obama’s trip to California to play golf, speak at a cyber-security summit, and headline a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.
