I have seen no- less than 50 posts saying Lagway is our Generational QB. In all of these references it's folks shitting on Billy for not getting an OC and ruining our two year window with our "generational QB". sigh... anyway, I am not sure if folks are not understanding what the word means or the time frames of what a generation is hinting at. I absolutely love Lagway!!! And believe he has the POTENTIAL to be great this season and give us a chance to win every game we play regardless of our competition. I would say his highlight reel as a freshman could be the best we have ever had. His down field passing and being able to shake off DT's for a freshman is as good as I have ever seen and from interviews and folks that have met him he as good as you can get. Not to mention he played after the UGA game with a bum hammy... So his toughness is not in question either..
WIth all of the being said... and remember I am a pumper.. Lagway was under 60% completion percentage and had 12 TD passes with 9 PICKS.. being a gun slinger you will always have more picks than a Mertz but the ratio of TD's to Int is below ave even for a freshman. That last part was an assumption but I am sure Bud Elliot will pop up with the last 20-30 years(generational) of D1 stats for true freshman qb's and give their ratio in those stats and let me know if that was correct- (thanks Bud)..
Anyone that is throwing out Heisman or Generational are making assumptions based off of highlights and the understanding of the second year starter bump.. Maybe we could relax on those exceptionally high expectations so the kid doesn't have the weight of the program on his shoulders?
just a thought. Once again I love Lagway and my son has his jersey and I THINK he will go down as one of the best to ever wear the orange and blue BUT...
