Paco,

probably have to sit out a year so no help for 2020, but good after that. Have no idea how good he is. Did we recruit him originally ?
He’s going to apply for a waiver to play immediately. Yes we recruited him originally. Not sure if it was his cousin or what but he had a relative play at UF by the name of Howard Lingard from OVIEDO and my neck of the woods that was recruited during the Zook regime. This kid is really good when healthy IMO. He had a good true freshmen season at Miami and then tore his MCL and I believe suffered a concussion as well so was able to redshirt this year. Our RB group is a little light right now so I’d like to see us go after him. He’s a former 5*.

Lingard still has 3 years left but I understand what you are saying.

Only from this standpoint...the NCAA is getting more strict on the transfer portal from last year.

Guys can go pro after 3 years from high school.

Worst case scenario? Take Branton Cox for example. Doesn't get the waiver and balls out next year...off to the NFL. Yes we get 1 great year of football which I'll take but I'd rather get a great guy for 3-4 years potentially.

I'll take any 5 star I can get but if they play to their potential and don't get a waiver, we're looking at 1 year guys in the program.

2020 rsSo RB Lorenzo Lingard 6-1 185 4.27/40 (xfer portal) should come to UF, not go to the always over-rated schmuckeyes.

Why? See Orange Bowl MVP, and because of multiple NC Holloway Coach, and Holloway 2019 Bowerman winner in T&F at UF. o_O

RB Lingard is also an accomplished T&F athlete, claiming Florida state 4A Championship in 110-meter hurdles. In high school, he posted elite hurdle times in both the 110M hurdles and the 300M hurdles, running a 13.94 in the 110M hurdles and a 36.63 in the 300M hurdles. He's also run a very fast 10.71 in the 100 meters.

GBO,

Does this make Dan Mullen the John Calipari of College football ?

So far, Jonathan Greenard & all of our other transfers have done pretty well, I hope it continues.

He wants in! It’s up to Mullen.

If we are looking at him, well, Mullen knows best, but I wonder if he would ever really make an impact. We all dogged Perine this year (don't try to deny it now) for the running game problems, but the truth was he knew the protections and was a great blocker for Trask, plus could catch out of the backfield. How long will it take Lingard to digest the playbook? Will he even be able to catch up to the guys with 2 years in the system already? Hard to think we could be bringing in a former 5 star RB just for depth, but that is how it could end up. And in that case I would rather have a recruit.

But again, Mullen knows best.

Miami fans seem convinced he will be coming to Gainesville. He definitely has top end speed.

Fever,

We need a RB with speed !

As Auburn's Gus Malzahn pointed out, Perine way too slow to play RB in the SEC ! LOL

FWIW, I don't remember anybody ever catching Perine from behind !
[/QUOTE]

I will have to find the clip but when he played some in 2018 I think it was he got loose on a run and you could tell he had track speed. I guess we will find out if he is really a top RB.

We (o_O you got a rat in your pocket?) all dogged Perine this year (don't try to deny it now) for the running game problems,

Sorry Lizzie, but I've never dogged Perine. I had his back when he arrived as my 'dark horse' 3 star freshman and I've never doubted him since. (some services gave him a late 4th star, only after Saban tried and failed to flip him to Bama).

Yep competition will sort things out if he does come here. Perine might not be a great RB but will probably play in the NFL a couple of years with his overall skill set. The O line was the main reason his per carry average went down this season.
