Gators No. 2 in 2022 WCGA Preseason Poll
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida opens the 2022 season at No. 2 on the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) preseason poll.
Defending NCAA champion Michigan tops the preseason poll. Rounding out the top five are No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 LSU.
The nation's preseason top five has included the Gators every season since 2007 (2007: 3rd; 2008: 2nd; 2009: 3rd; 2010: 4th; 2011: 3rd; 2012: 3rd, 2013: 3rd; 2014: 1st, 2015: 1st, 2016: 2nd, 2017: 5th; 2018: 2nd; 2019: 3rd, 2020: 3rd; 2021: 1st; 2022: 2nd).
"This is going to be one of the most exciting NCAA gymnastics seasons ever," Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland said. "We'll face so many top-ranked teams and the O'Connell Center is the place to be to see the nation's best. Our team looks forward to the energy of competing in front of full capacity arenas once again."
Florida's 2022 schedule includes nine consecutive meets versus preseason top-25 opponents. The Stephen C. O'Connell Center is the site for some of the nation's top dual meets of 2022, with four of the preseason top 12 competing in Gainesville.
* Jan. 16 vs. No. 6 Alabama
* Jan. 28 vs. No. 11 Arkansas
* Feb. 11 vs. No. 5 LSU
* Feb. 25 vs. No. 3 Oklahoma
Florida's road schedule includes five dates at preseason top-25 teams:
* Jan. 21 at No. 15 Georgia
* Feb. 4 at No. 16 Missouri
* Feb. 18 at No. 13 Kentucky
* March 4 at No. 14 Auburn
* March 11 at No. 21 North Carolina State
