Looking forward to Golden's 2nd year in Gainesville. Team seems to be much deeper than last, but time will tell.
Gator hoops open the season tonight!

42-30 at the break. They cut our 17 point lead down with back to back lazy defensive possessions. We've looked really fast and athletic at times but on the defensive end we've been lost at times.
We look to be much improved offensively vs last season. Defense was chasing after several picks. Odd thing is we missed 15 free throws tonight. 15 for 30 from the line. Ouch. But we scored 93 on opening night and got a 20 point win that was never in doubt.
Didn't see the game but is this that Loyola team that wins multiple games in the tourney some years?
I think that's Loyola-Chicago. This was MD, who posted a 13-20 overall record with only 3 wins in their conference.
No. They lost a ton of single digit games last year in the Patriot conference. They are better this year, but candidly a team that we should beat by 30 not 20. We ran up some sizeable leads and seemed to lose interest. We will get a great test on Friday against Virginia.
This is a much quicker team than last season. Free throws were an issue but should improve as some of our better FT shooters had an off night.
This game should give us a little idea if what we actually have. Not a highly ranked VA team but probably a decent team.
Virginia is a good team with experience. Gators played hard but couldn't overcome poor shooting and turnovers. We are definitely ahead of last years team. Nobody will go unbeaten so this was a good early test.
