Gary Danielson

Gary Laurel and Vern Hardy (now Brad Hardy).
Gary should have retired with Vern... o_O

I hate it wen the Gators are on the
C-BS game of the week....

I will always give Danielson a pass since he was THE ONLY media sportscaster which stuck up for Florida in 2006 and said we had earned the right to play Ohio State for the national championship. That was the month when literally every other person without question wanted a MU-Ohio State rematch for the national championship, but Gary Danielson rode the campaign to get Florida in and the rest is history. He gets a pass in my book for most dumb things said since then.

Meyer spoke up about us getting that shot and Bo from meatchicken was willing to take whatever they would get. That defense killed the 'best team' in the nation...just like we did in '08 when we smoked the best scoring offense in CFB history.

Wright put it on that kid from Oklahoma from on like the first drive. Great game for the GatorNation.

Gary is a good commentator but says some dumb a$$ things sometimes. Good thing Vern retired...he was like 180 years old lol
With Brad Nessler replacing Verne, it makes me wish either Verne held off his retirement or CBS should have found a better replacement.

You like Verne over Nessler? Wow Verne was turrible. Nessler is pretty good IMO.

Anybody would be better than Verne.

These guys would be better than Verne:

lmao...I like Danielson good enough...he will say some things but he's pretty fair. A lot of commentators favor certain things...ok whatever....if you had to talk about every play of the game you'll probably say some stupid sh*t too. Some guys I freaking hate though...you can see their bias. Desmond Howard I loathe.

Never understood why Howard has such a hardon for UF. Maybe he just doesn't like being Gatorbait. Envy can be a poison.

He used to call Jacoby Brissett, Jacory Brissett(Harris, ex Cane QB) and Wondy Pierre-Louis, Wondy Louis-Pierre.
One time Verne said a LSU punter was 80 years old or something. I'm sure there is a clip of it out there somewhere.

I'm convinced the standards for sports broadcasting is pretty low given the dregs that usually cover our games.

So here's the big difference between a good color guy (Todd Blackledge) and a bad one (Danielson).

Let's say Florida burns Auburn for a long touchdown. Now on that play, there are going to be players that made good plays, and players that made bad plays. What the Florida fans want to hear is how their guys did good. That's what most casual observers want to see. The Auburn fans just want to move on.

Blackledge will carefully dissect the play, and then show you how Florida had stellar execution, makes them look great, little or any mention of what Auburn did wrong.

Danielson starts during the play with an audible 'oh geez' as the Florida guy breaks into the open on his TD run. Then he breaks down the same play and tells you everything Auburn did wrong. "You just can't DO that!'. By the time he's done he will have you believing that Florida didn't do anything to cause the TD, Auburn just made so many mistakes it was inevitable.

Then he will spend the rest of the game pointing out every Auburn mistake, and referring back to all the mistakes on this play.

End result is the Florida fans are pissed cause Danielson didn't give their guys credit, the Auburn fans are pissed cause he harped on all the mistakes they made.

In theory UF helped Desmond win the Heisman.

The knock on Peyton Manning was he could not beat UF.

I think you're thinking of Charles Woodson. He balled out to end his season at Michigan, Peyton had multiple lackluster games. Woodson scoring multiple TDs in every phase of the game vs Michigan then Keith Jackson crooning Hellllloooooooo Heisman! after he struck the pose in the endzone didn't hurt his chances either.

Total brain loss. You are right. Lol

Their commentary on the 'text book' helmet to helmet that knocked Pierce out of the game was disgusting.

Their lack of comment on the chitty-biased refs calling about 1 out of every 3 pass interference actions by Auburn's secondary was either their incompetence, or even worse bias against UF.

Gary Laurel and Vern Hardy were the worst, and now Brad Hardy is not much of an improvement imoho...

He knows the game and has good insight sometimes but like someone else said, he focuses on the mistakes team A makes too much instead of giving team B credit for exploiting the mistake.

He also loves controversy and he will go out of his way to spin yarns to create one. He also isn't an SEC guy. I think he tries to be one but he isn't and imo the voice for the SEC's CBS game of the week should be an SEC guy.
