Just listened to Franz Beard on the Buddy Martin show. First Franz said that Kelly is a 100% lock to UF. Done deal.

Franz says that he has confirmed from multiple sources that if Kelly waits until Saturday he gets to fully fulfill his ESPN contract and he gets an additional $1 million.

Buddy Martin and Franz Beard both said that they have multiple sources telling them that if Kelly gets another coaching job (college or NFL), he would lose $5 million from San Francisco. Franz source is someone that’s worked with Kelly in the NFL who knows the language in his contract. This person told him that not only does the offset language include college jobs, but it also includes his job at ESPN.

So by Kelly and UF not making the UF contract effective until Saturday, Kelly makes $6 million that he would lose if he started with UF before our regular season is over.

They also talked about UCLA and they both agreed that UCLA is NOT in the picture for Kelly for a number of reasons:

1. UCLA can’t pay him as much as we can and they don’t spend the same amount of money on football resources and staff.

2. Huge state income and healthcare taxes in California.

3. There are no reliable signs that Kelly or his agent have been in talks with UCLA officials.

Brady Ackerman was also on the show and he also says that Kelly is a done deal.

On a separate note, Marc Daniels, UCF sports radio broadcaster was also on Martin’s show Daniels said that he really believes that Frost will stay at UCF. He also said that he knows that Frost has had absolutely no dialogue with Nebraska. He says Frost would have absolutely nothing to gain by speaking with Nebraska or even letting his agent begin negotiations while he is still coaching because he would know that it would definitely leak out and distract his team who has a ton left to play for. The Nebraska job isn’t going anywhere. It’s Frosts if he wants it so why would he risk any negotiations before his season is over.

But regardless Daniels believes Frost would say no to UF and Nebraska and will stay at UCF. Daniel is very tight with Frost. He flies with the UCF football team for road games and he is very plugged in with Frost and UCF.
