A very big game for Florida. SC hasn't looked too good this season but Rattler can create some scoring in games he isn't getting sacked like crazy. SC gives up the most sacks in all of the FBS - 5 1/2 sacks per game they average giving up in their FBS games. Florida is only # 106 in getting sacks against FBS teams though. Florida has only 7 sacks this year against FBS teams and 6 of the 7 sacks came against Charlotte (4) and Vandy (2). We only have 1 sack (TN) against the 3 good teams we have played this season. Our pass rushing specialist Princely has a grand total of 1 sack against FBS schools and that was against Charlotte. His other sack came against FCS McNeese. On paper not looking at our poor success at getting sacks you would think our defense would have a huge advantage in this game with SC having a poor running game and being unable to give their QB much time to pass but if we don't get Rattler on the ground he can get the ball down the field.

As far as our passing game against the SC defense its hard to say as they have a pretty weak defense but how effective will our line of scrimmage passing game be against that defense. It was pointed out that we had a grand total of "28 air yards" against Vandy despite the decent passing yardage. Air yards are how far the ball travels past the line of scrimmage when the receiver catches it minus the yards of passes caught behind the line of scrimmage. So our completed passes averaged traveling less than 1 yard beyond the line of scrimmage when caught by the pass catchers. Our jet sweep attempts affect this number some but it still shows how close to the line our passing game is overall. SC looks pretty bad at times so maybe that can work against them but I highly doubt its too effective against remaining teams on the schedule that can score quite a bit.

Florida is not a good match up for South Carolina.

You think any of these things will be close this year to last year?

Rattler throws for 145 yards.

Gators rush for 374 yards.

Gators recover 3 fumbles.

SC rushes for 44 yards.

Good stuff.

I do think the air yards stats are a bit misleading as they obviously include all the behind-the-line stuff - which are essentially runs. No - we're not throwing downfield and need to but for this O - that stat is a bit skewed imo.

50-50 game on paper per stats but I like UF - 27-14 this week

Yep if you throw sideways heavy it will be lower but high octane offenses like USC throw a lot sideways but still attack quite a bit downfield. I think Napier's version combined with a QB that doesn't like to pull the trigger fast on longer throws doesn't give you much chance to beat teams like LSU, Georgia and FSU. I doubt we can beat any of those 3 teams without scoring in the 30s.

that's really the challenge in my view. I doubt we can repeat the same type gameplanning and produce W's against better competition...but we'll see.

1st and 5 to 4th and 3
Turning and handing off you are playing 10 on 11. Read someone. Have an rpo behind it. Don’t accept being inferior in numbers.

When will this program learn. You’re o tackle down blocks..someone is coming to kick you out.

We are implementing the same defensive scheme as the kentucky game. 3 down lineman and 5-6 dbs. Its very easy to run against. If we do like we did against cats and refuse to adjust the cocks will score 40+ and rack up similar yards.

Our d line always seems to slant toward the center, it's like we are trying to defend against a series of middle qb sneaks.

Our oline could be charged for murder. Goodness a qb takes their life into their own hands lining up behind them. D has played a little better, but looks like we will be chasing points now.

Have to hope the D can hold up. We get inside the 30 and almost always have a negative play on 1st down and puts us behind the chains.
