Florida Softball Opens Saturday Scrimmage to Public
The Florida softball program is set to hold an open scrimmage Saturday, Jan. 29.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida softball program announced Tuesday afternoon a team scrimmage that will be open to the public Saturday, Jan. 29, at 12:15 p.m. Gates at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium will open at 12 p.m.
The Gators bring back a majority of the 2021 roster that captured the program's SEC leading ninth regular season title. UF finished with a 45-11 overall record, a 19-5 record in SEC play and was the only team in the conference to not lose a SEC series during the regular season.
The 2022 roster features National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Americans Charla Echols, Hannah Adams and Elizabeth Hightower. That trio anchors a group of 16 returning contributors from last season, along with the addition of 2021 transfer Skylar Wallace and six newcomers.
Entering their first year with the program is graduate transfer Marissa Mesiemore, and freshmen Cali Decker, Lexie Delbrey, Kendra Falby, Sam Roe and Reagan Walsh. Roe, a catcher, joined the program this January as an early enrollee and Mesiemore is a transfer from FGCU.
