FIRE GRANTHAM

Georgia is so much better in the trenches than we are on both sides of the ball, it won't matter who our QB is. They will dominate up front and beat us easily. They have recruited much better than us for years and the main difference to me is on the line of scrimmage.

Counter tre, power, or what LSU was running GF counter are down schemes with pullers looking to kick out and the second puller wrap up through. High school defensive coordinators all over this nation Friday night were defending the same exact play and scheme.

As a defensive end when the tackle blocks down you squeeze with him and look for the puller coming at you. You attack the pullers downfield shoulder and blast him. It is called a wrong arm or a wrong shoulder technique. You create a pile where the RB wants to go so he has to bounce it outside where your linebacker should be scraping to. Keeping the RB from going north and south allows your safeties and other linebackers to flow to the play.

Again, tens of thousands of high school defensive coordinators were doing this all Friday night all over this nation. And an SEC defensive coordinator can't make this simple adjustment.

Do you think we should have went bigger also with the personnel. Heard someone else say we did that against KY after some runs and contained these type of plays but Grantham for whatever reason didn't do it this game.

I said before the season I saw us going 8-4, 7-5 if things went sideways. That looks pretty spot on.

Also said we would finish 8th in the SEC in total defense and 43 in the nation. After today's game we are giving up 338.4 YPG, which would put us 8th in the SEC and 41st nationally. Of course, the later games will move this a little, but I feel I called it fairly accurately, and really really hate being right. I would rather we were great and I had to eat crow.

The good news is it doesn't look like my biggest fear is going to come to pass. I wanted Grantham to either turn into a great DC or be terrible and get canned. What I didn't want was for him to be just barely good enough to keep his job another year. We are never going to progress until we get someone competent in that position.

I didn't think you guys would go undefeated but I thought 9 and 3 or 8 and 4. Grantham is really dragging you guys down. I don't get why Mullen likes him.

We can only guess, but I wonder if it's some odd sense of loyalty or "honor". Which brings into conversation of Jones continuing to be the starter. Maybe he feels that Jones is owed it because he was previously the backup.

Regardless of the reason, I don't think the "Saban"s of the world would share the mentality.

There is no defense that will stop everything or else everyone would be running it. I just think allowing a pulling guard to kick you out to maintain outside contain and allowing the rb to go north and south is not smart defense.

I would say that a coach has to show his current guys loyalty or his future guys will see him as not having his coaches backs and so not be willing to be his future guys.

Somebody on Twitter suggested UF to fire Mullen and make a big offer to Mel Tucker or Dan lenning

After tonight, I'm not against it. Maybe I should stop watching because it might just be the frustration talking.

Must be Georgia fans making those stupid suggestions.

Who would you take? I know it isn't happening but I would take Kiffin and it wouldn't surprise me if LSU hires him.
I'm thinking more of Hugh Freeze, Joe Brady, or Mario Cristobal. Lanning would be a better fit somewhere like Tulsa to begin his career as a head coach.

Not sure we could beat you guys right now despite that Clemson loss.
Shut up! Shut your whore mouth! We are actually pretty similar to Clemson. Yes they have more talent, but they are playing very lackadaisical. They missed 3 fg’s and gave up a scoop and score and a fluke td. They kept f$u in the game. They just don’t look like they’re playing hard. If nothing else, I haven’t seen our guys quit or stop giving effort. We may get burned on play after play but I’m at least proud of our guys’ effort. Clemson just plays soft, with a couple notable exceptions, especially on offense. Their defense is pretty good. But they make a lot of effort mistakes and let other teams stay in the game, just like we do. I would hope by that point we’ve settled tf down. They are one of the teams where we do have a talent advantage. They’re going to lose again before we play them too.
