Final OV

I've seen on this board repeatedly that having the final official visit, is a major plus. Even before this week I've always wondered about this, because wouldn't you like to make an impression? Plus, having the last visit doesn't seem to do much for you if they visit somewhere else first and pull the trigger. Does the last OV thing matter more for kids that have plans to announce on NSD?
