What you take/offer is what you take/offer.
However, leaving the recruiting door OPEN is just plain 'good sense' imo.
Nuss watched Trask in person in Manvel, Tx and then brought Trask to FNL's.
Mc then watched him in person at FNL's and made him the ship offer.
What an oozzzzzz....
IF YOU think that Nuss is a bad hire for OC, then you also think that McElwain is an idiot too, right?
Or are you just just another with the habit of talking outta both sides of your mouth?![]()
You're simple. Good sense my ass. If he was so high on who he had committed he wouldn't have still been chasing QB's all over the country. Jim Harbaugh has a QB committee and you know what he told Eason when he opened up his commitment? No thanks. Why? Because he was confident in the guy he had. Actions speak. And I see you conveniently ignored my comment about Nuss' recruiting prowess. What is the success rate of the guys he's recruited at the last two stops where he served multiple years? How many of his guys saw the field and what were their results? I know you fancy yourself a statistician so look all that up and get back to me then tell me more about Nuss' eye for talent.
And I don't have to think Mac is an idiot just because I think Nuss is bad. Plenty of great coaches have made less than inspiring hires. Spurrier hired Zook. Saban hired Derek Dooley. Meyer hired Addazio and on and on. Things other than raw ability gets considered when hires are made. You realize Nuss and Mac are very good friends? I'm sure that couldn't have played into his desire to hire him. But let's ride with your logic though. Most consider Saban the best coach in the game and he told Nuss to kick rocks after two years and Saban>Mac so I guess we can assume his views are closer to mine than yours. Using your faulty logic of course.
