Personally, I'd much rather see you starve...
A consensus 3-star recruit,
FS/WR Trent Whittemore 6-3 187 probably is going to be one of the
more overlooked prospects in the Florida recruiting class. But his new head coach certainly is high on him.
“He’s an amazing athlete,” UF coach Dan Mullen said Wednesday.“ Football, basketball. When he gets to concentrate on one sport. I don’t think he’s ever lifted a weight in his life. When he gets on that
(Savage) training program, he’s physically going to be a different guy.
“He’s got great size, great athleticism. He played all over the field in football. He’s a phenomenal basketball player.” He
Yale offered him...

Mullen asked what
Ath/WR Weston’s ranking (***) is among the recruiting services. When he was told it wasn’t very high, he said,
“Not very high? OK, good, we’ll see.” The Clewiston receiver is
6-3 212 with
excellent speed and hands. But he did not attend any of the big football camps, so the recruiting analysts don’t know much about him.
(Bingo)
“He’s a tremendous young man,” Mullen said.
“He has great potential, great athleticism, great size. But most important, amazing character and work ethic for a young man. Academically, takes care of his business. How he’s respected in the town of Clewiston, it’s pretty special. He’s got a first-class brand. I’m really happy to have him part of the family. He’s got potential to have a pretty special career here at Florida.”

OLB Jesiah Pierre 6-2 217 *** has already graduated from Mt. Dora Christian Academy and will enroll early at UF. “I knew Florida was the school I wanted to go to after I took my official visit there,” said Pierre. “I loved the family atmosphere on the team and the hunger for greatness within the football program. I left there just wanting to be a Gator.”
Pierre said he believes playing at MDCA instead of one of the larger schools in the area helped him become a better player, and a better person. “I think you always feel like you have more to prove when you come from a small school and a small town,” said Pierre.
“Playing here humbled me and made me want to work harder to achieve my goals. At the same time, I hope it also proves that it doesn’t matter what school you attend or what city you live in, if you work hard enough, coaches will find you.”

QB J.Jones 6-3 204 4.45/40 -- Mullen said,
“He’s a very athletic, got great size, he’s a guy that is always worked very hard at the discipline part of it, being a QB. What I mean by the technique and fundamentals and always improving himself — he’s one of those guys that’s kind of fun. He works hard to play the position, technically at a high level but he has the athleticism and skill to improvise and make plays on his own.” Following his commitment to Florida, Jones was on campus several times in the summer and fall for unofficial visits where he took it upon himself to recruit others to join him in Gainesville.
So, if recruiting services
(rivals) want to rank those types of
student/athlete/citizens as 3 stars, that's okay with me. I'm going with Dan's eval & choices every time...
Note: All 4 of the above 3 star rivals recruits were rated 4 Stars by ESPN's football professionals, instead of having to pay the camp salesmen for their stars.
(jmoho of course)
