In FAIR elections..you NEVER win a second term with economic numbers like this. Then add open borders. In normal elections, the media does not put their WHOLE body on the scale either and cover and lie for THEIR candidate. So we will see. I STILL predict a landslide for Trump. I have never waivered
Media now has gone 18 days (it was 16 yesterday) without one tough question and only one unscripted interview. To the original point of this thread - it's discipline and in turn, media complicity as Tom Cotton rightly pointed out.
Ben Shapiro, Bill O'Reilly and others have pointed out how Kamala's Basement 2.0 strategy, no primary challenge, media complicity/TDRS and yes, Trump flailing at events like the Chicago event and his going off on Brian Kemp (come on Trump, I am here to to close borders, not rail against a popular Republican governor), the media has plenty of fodder to cover.
Kamala will continue her sugar high through the Democratic convention and then....early voting starts. No debates means that Kamala can shield herself more and more.
The "Steal" in 2020 was Covid + Basement Strategy. But Joe B. was relatively coherent then. Now it is, "hot swap summer/Pelosi Coup, no questions to Kamala, DNC and timing" and all people feel is the new energy while Trump flails around as he sees his lead (again, per Shapiro, Megan Kelly, Bill O'Reilly others - and if you want to call then RINOs, then so be it) evaporate.

One ray of hope - she gave into her Pro-Gaza wing and chose Tim from MN. Is this guy the most qualified? Come on. Gretchen Whitmer runs circles around him. Pete B. does as well. As does Josh Shapiro.
She did not have the courage to choose the first Jewish VP which I would have given her credit for. Not so much.

If somebody can beat you by "hiding in the basement" it means your a terrible candidate.

You should be right, but in our social media consumption of information and with the MSM so slanted to the left (and Trump giving plenty of fodder), one can win (as evidenced by 2020 and current polling) by being exceptionally disciplined (read: stay in the basement).

On Abortion, when Trump told the RNC and the fundamentalist right to nix it from the platform, he subrogated that to an esoteric talking point. Discipline at its best.
I don't agree with that assessment. I think that strategy could only work against a guy like Trump. A man who had a roaring economy and could still never achieve a 50% approval rating while he was president.....the first such in history. It can only work when your opponent has super high negatives and continues to consistently give fodder as you point out.
I also don't really see where Harris is using that strategy anyway. She has only been in the race a couple of weeks, is holding ralleys and wants to debate Trump as was scheduled. Now I understand why Trump wants to move it to Fox and why Harris would be an idiot to do so......but I suspect there will be some compromise and a debate will happen. Its a clear sign that Trump recognizes he is in a much tougher fight than he had with Biden (him backing out of the scheduled debate). I hope it happens.....maybe with one moderator from Fox and one from CNN or something like that.
Lastly, the media isn't as slanted to the left as it once was. Fox new has dominated the cable news viewing for some time (usually beating MSNBC and CNN put together), the conservatives have owned the radio waves (thanks to Rush for some 30 years) and Elon Musk and Donald Trump own two of the biggest platforms in social media. I just don't see the severe media slant anymore in news consumption. I believe it still exists to some degree, but there are lots of conservative news outlets these days: Fox, Newsmax, NY post, The Washington Times, the National review, The federalist, OAN, Breitbart, Dailey wire, etc. In other words, if viewers don't WANT a liberal viewpoint there are plenty of other options.
I would also offer this with regard to the media........they are all in it to make a profit. And clearly consumers want to hear news that is biased in favor of what they believe. Given that fact, is the media biased OR are consumers biased and the media is just giving the market what it is asking for?
Pretty much. You can't give advice because they think Trump can do no wrong.
It’s true that individuals (Ghost was the most aggressive) would spin any clear mis-step into Trump five dimensional chess move and question any source not derived from OAN or Newsmax.
Trump, as Jamie Dimon said, got a lot right. But he is not infallible.

Kamala has, up until yesterday, had an extraordinary 16 days. She’s surprised everyone, most notably myself.
Today’s choice is either a poor unforced error or a cocky bit of confidence, driven from Pelosi and Schumer (different reasons) that Kamala will win the general and let’s have someone who will not draw down sitting senators (Kelly), open up an NC run (Cooper) and not have the Hamas wing rioting in Chicago (Shapiro).
Trump needs to reset and find a way to drive other unforced errors. Republicans need to find ways to get the media to ask tough questions.
Start with Anti-semitism and Josh Shapiro. Go to AIPAC.
Trump needs to be more aggressive but not lose “technique” and be undisciplined in the final 90 days.

My gut reaction to her picking Walz was primarily to avoid the Jewish issue with Shapiro. Young people are much more sympathetic to the Gaza plight than us older guys who have watched Hamas lob rockets into Israel for decades. If Harris is going to win, young people are going to be a big key.
Abraham accords instead of war with Iran. 2 dollar gas instead of 4. No inflation instead of 10%. Closed borders instead of wide open. 2.5% interest instead of 7%. Which administration was better for the American people? I mean…. Can you do the simplest of maf?
