Do you think this group is ahead or behind that first group Urban/Mullen had in 05? Both 9-3, except I would say the offense at that point was further behind. I remember the defense got torched in T-Town, but really we were in every other game. Going into 2006 we were loaded for bear defensively. The offense however, didn't click until the last 2 games (Arkansas/OSU). Those impact freshmen were a large part of that (Harvin/Tebow) I just wonder with Chauncey, CeCe, Polite gone do we take a big step back defensively next season? I feel offensively your gonna need to ditch Franks for Jones if you're gonna get that home run threat on offense, much like when Leak left and Tebow stepped in. Gotta have it when you think about lining up against Bama in Atlanta soon.

05’ roster had more talent, which makes this year more impressive. 05’ had the best QB in the league in Leak and a ton of skill talent. Defensive line was really good and so were the LB’s. Then we had Reggie Nelson in the secondary cleaning up everything. We have a few players on this team who were better than some of the players on the 05’ team but as a group 05’ had more talent across the board.

Seems like the 05 team had more talent Leak definitely seemed like a better QB than Franks. Also seemed like the defense was better but I didn't really watch either team enough to do anything but guess.

This brings up an interesting point, was the SEC a better league in 2005 or 2018?

I think the top two teams are better in 2018, but I think the league as a whole had more depth in 2005.

Things are just different. Mac won the east his 1st year and we are 3rd in the East this year.

I think GA won the east in 2005 and this year.

I agree. In 05 Your top two were Texas & USC. I think that duo was just as good as this year's Bama & Clemson. That following year I remember the schedule being a gauntlet. Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Georgia. Funny, This next year we add Miami & Auburn. Everything just sets up really simialar.

QB situation will give UF it’s ceiling next year. Spring game at the QB position will probably be way more important and under the microscope than it’s ever been since Tebow left. Difference is you have a legit coach and pieces falling into place.

Well I was talking about the top 2 teams in the SEC, but I think USC was definitely better than Clemson. Of course I think Bama is better than all

You say that, but Franks’ last 3 games, after he was “benched” and Trask got hurt were good. Better than average even.

He was 50/74 689 yds 7 td and no ints
30 rushes for 103 yds and 3 tds.

So if he doesn’t get any better and replicated that for 12 games next year he would be
200/296 2756 yds 28 tds
120 rushes 412 yds 12 tds
That’s a 68% completion rate and a qb rating in the 170s. Before any postseason play.

How many here would take those numbers for next year right now? Regardless of the name on the back of the QBs jersey.

Just sayin’......

Have to admit he stepped up...1 team was Idaho...but he played with heart, ran the ball hard and threw better. Mullen is going to start the best QB...time will tell

To give you more perspective, that’s a 229 yd 2 td per game average.

So if he played a 13th game that would be 2985 yds and 30 tds. That would be 9th all time at Florida for yards and 5th for tds for a single season

If he played a 14th game that’s 3214 yds and 32 tds. That’s 6th for yards 52 yds behind 1995 Danny Wuerffel and 4th for tds tied with 2007 Tim Tebow.

Franks was not good....the teams he played were trash

I agree he did the most damage against fsu.

But seriously. One run of the mill average sec team. One cupcake. One rival. That’s a pretty fair facsimile of a season.

I was at the fsu game....dudes were wide open and he didnt have a clue....if u look at the stats tho, he did good....but in all actuality.... He was pretty bad.

Yeah I’m sure there is room to improve, AND YET......he is putting up numbers and wins. Pretty neat.

Just think what that game would have been like for the noles if we had a guy that didn’t miss all those receivers.

I’m just saying that the stats were pretty good and there’s a mile of ceiling above Franks to improve. Give Mullen credit for the scheme that makes the most out of what Franks is now and let’s see if he can coach him up.

Did u not read where i said Mullen was impressive. I think he should be a coach of the yr candidate. Winning 9 games with franks is ridiculously good
