GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Dan Mullen made three staff changes prior to the 2019 season and they paid off in a big way as the Gators won 11 games on the field this fall.
On Wednesday, David Turner was named the Defensive Line Coach of the Year by FootballScoop.com for his work with the Gators up front in the trenches this season.
Perhaps most impressive about Turner's job in coaching up the defensive line this season was that he did it while replacing 2018's top pass rusher in Jachai Polite and without his two primary pass-rushing threats for various portions of the season. Both Jonathan Greenard and Jabari Zuniga were hobbled by ankle injuries at times, yet Florida piled up an impressive 49 sacks, good for fifth nationally.
