I honestly think Muschamp is a good coach for USCe. He was a poor match for UF. I don't know much about Taggart, but the fact that the kids like and respect him should mean something. I'm not saying he is automatically the best choice, but he might be a better fit at FSU than Oregon. Jimbo might be a better fit at aTm, where they can afford the funds required to build the Jimbo-Industrial Complex.

It's funny watching FSU fans act like Taggart is a home run hire. If that were true, wouldn't he have been snatched up by somebody before this? UF didn't even bother with him. UCLA, who is right up the road, never bothered with him. Nobody else in the coaching search even mentioned him (except maybe UT)

Pretty sure he was "snatched up" by Oregon last year.

Neither had Dabo and look what he did with the right staff. He played cheerleader/CEO and families/recruits/boosters loved him. Players already love Taggart and want to play for him. He'll keep the talent train roll'n.

Here's an article from the Tampa Bay Times about it, and other than the writer sucking the FSU D in the beginning (how can you say FSU is not a job you leave for Texas A&M, WHEN THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT JUST HAPPENED? LULZ), it pretty much sums up the fact that he's a big risk. His entire resume is an 11-2 season at USF when they had a great QB. But then, isn't Jimbo's entire resume about how FSU did when they had a great QB? So I can see why FSU fans like him.

I wouldn't necessarily use the 'UF didn't even bother with him' argument regarding his viability as a head corch considering their recent history in choosing Muschamp and McElwain.

UCLA didn't bother with him likely for a couple reasons... a) they got their guy (and yours) in Kelly and b) why would he leave Oregon to go to UCLA? FSU can offer him something he wants, to go back home, UCLA can't.

Oregon is a pretty good job. There aren't many jobs Taggart, or anyone for that matter, particularly a guy born and raised in Florida, would leave Eugene for. It appears this is one of them.

Of course he's a big risk. Hiring a coach is always a huge risk, particularly at the end of the cycle. Given the hand FSU has been dealt In think Taggart's attainability and his perceived ceiling as a head corch makes him as close to a home run as possible given the circumstances.

We won't know until he signs and gets here but at the very worst, the talent flow to Tallahassee will continue under his watch.
