In fairness, Whelan's brother has a VERY complicated calculus here. Him being "up in arms" will only make the administration turn their back. There is no dynamic constituency pressuring the administration. he is not an objective observer here.

A prisoner of war is not the same kind of prisoner as a criminal. They are captured enemy combatants and when hostilities cease you are required by Geneva Convention to release them. We got 1000 of ours back in exchange. So saying he turned terrorists loose in exchange for nothing is factually incorrect.
No hostilities had ceased or ever did cease...
Maybe if they were jailed they wouldn't have been on the street killing those 13 Americans when we left
