Bowl day thread
I don't diminish Bama's titles this entire decade they've flourished. Where you went completely off the track was to imply that FSU's '87-2001 schedule was suspect. Though the ACC was not great by any means, FSU played OOC and top bowls to make up for it. During those yrs. the avg. FSU SOS was about 16th. with 4 yrs. top 10 and 7 top 11.
ACC was not very good during that stretch. Noles had to get up for 2-3 games per year most seasons. Fewer chances to lose helps. Acc much better now hence couldnt duplicate. To say it did not help would be intellectually dishonest. Those nole teams were awesome, but bama on verge of a domination we havent seen before. Hopefully it will end soon. Getting a patriots level of dislike

1. It’s silly for FSU fans to claim that what they did in the 80s and 90s is the same as what Bama has done from 2008-present. (Its impressive but it’s simply not the same).

2. I love the patriots dominance (though I do wish the Steelers could grab another one before Ben retires).

The "ACC was mediocre back then" argument is irrelevant because FSU scheduled tough out of conference opponents every year. That's literally how FSU got on the map -- by constantly scheduling tough OOC games and winning them more often than not.

At a minimum, 4-5. And that's not including championship and bowl games: Miami, UF, Clemson, GaTech was very good for a few years back in those days (they won a split National Championship in 1990), plus whatever decent OOC opponent we scheduled. And don't forget that Spurrier had Duke playing decent football for a few years before he went to UF.

FSU didn't start scheduling cupcakes until around the early 2000s, after the "Dynasty" was mostly over.

FSU joined the ACC in 1992. Name the ACC teams not named FSU that finished in the top ten the first ten years FSU was in the ACC. How about the top 20 ACC teams uring that period?

There were not many

Last I checked both in conf. and ooc games counted the same so the total SOS is the relevant factor. FSU was in the top 11 SOS 7 times from '87-01 and 11-5-1 vs UF. Doesn't matter if FSU was ACC, Big10. SEC or Independant the SOS would still be the same.

Bragging about coming in fourth place...only in nolie land could you find such a fantasy.

Go Canes!

Caines have no ACC titles, have not won a NC in the memory of current recruits and lose more bowl games than they've won. One lucky year and then they'll revert back to the norm.

The memory of nolies past season of going from a team ranked 3rd to having to play in a Shreveport bowl by default is very fresh in the minds of recruits.

So sad

Go Canes!

Sad is losing your best bowl in a decade to Wisky, to add to the already losing bowl record. Get used to it with M. R. BTW FSU won. Win something every 10 yrs. or don't try smack at all.

Well I’ve seen it all, the simpletons bragging about winning a default bowl game in Shreveport...it doesn’t get any more pathetic

Oh we won the Shreveport bowl....Lol

;)

Go Canes!

Poor sad Caines, forget they were just in the Indy Bowl a couple of yrs ago. Oh yeah they lost. Actually it was in the middle of six minor bowl losses in a row. But sure they back. Started a new six bowl losing streak to Wisky.

Lol @ nolies trying so hard to appear relevant

First they brag about fourth place finishes, then the throw their chest out for winning a default bowl, now they want to talk about the past...the most delusional fans in the world.

But, but we won five games then scheduled a game against a team most high schools could beat to be bowl eligible...they’re back...Lol

Go Canes!

FSU has always been good about scheduling at least a couple of decent OOC opponents every year -- much more than some other programs.
Mainly because until the last couple of years the ACC has been pathetically weak and that had to do that to build up their SOS.

Pathetic caines suffer selective memory. Cannot remember 6 or 7 straight beatdowns from FSU and can only remember this yrs' lucky win vs Noles. Then can't remember 6 or 7 straight bowl beatdowns but completely live in the 15 year past for a NC. I'm told drugs will do that to you. Or total desperation as they realize UGa. only got relevant when Richt left.

The simpletons are more stupid than I thought...if you want to bring up history then talk about the overall record or your lack of championships...yeah I know you would rather brag about a bowl game nobody watched or attended...Lol how pathetic

Go Canes!

FSU has a NC this decade or was the selective memory kicking in. How lame is it that with the lucky win this yr. you forget the 7 yr losing streak before that. So only this yr. counts? So then you're on a losing streak with a home loss to Wisky. Continuing a dismal bowl record. PS You really want to bring attendance into this?? LMAO

More proof of delusion by nolies they talk about periods that favor them, yet when confronted by the overall picture they coward back to a short time frame

Catch up or shut up...5 championships, overall head to head...retreat back to that big bowl win in Shreveport, so sad.

You don’t have overall wins against the Canes or Gators, Lol

Go Canes!

Strap in your leather G strap on geezer if you want to go back so far. We won 7 of last 8 so the series will be tied in 2 yrs. NO attendance smak? None of your players, recruits , nor most of your dozen fans have even watched Caines win a NC. Shapiro wants his money back.

I think you guys are talking past each other

Uninformed said: The ACC has been on par with the other P5 conferences for the last couple of years.

Good catch.

Yes, the ACC was generally among the weakest of the power conferences until recently (though the B1G and the Big East had some sketchy periods too), but FSU compensated by scheduling good OOC opponents, keeping the SOS decent.
