For when it just doesn't seem to fit in with another thread.

The OL is a 2019 question, due to youth and experience levels, not due to physical development or talent levels. However, the major part of QB protection will be how well the RB's and TE's can support the new OL. As a coach, that's where I'd be putting a lot of Summer-Fall practice attention. Not many fans seem to understand how big their roll can be in OL support.
=====

SDS's Top 10 SEC DT's for 2019 --- 8. Adam Shuler II - UF

The 2019 DL is improved in the areas of both performance and depth.
DT's Shuler and Campbell - are likely starters again.
Slaton and Conliffe - it's time to step up their consistency,,, or step aside. o_O
Dunlap, Langham, and FNG Humphries - have playing time available depending on work ethic.
=====

“He knows when to break hot. He and the QB are always on the same page. He’s not spectacular, but he does what he needs to do. He does his job. That’s the most important thing. Along with football, Hammond is also working on something else this summer that is very important to him and his family — finishing his degree. He’s on track to graduate in August. Getting that degree is the main reason he did not seek any feedback from the NFL last winter about the possibility of entering the draft
* Overall, that sounds a lot like a Chris Doering kind of receiver to me...

Is #13 WR Leonard Manuel 6-4 200 the Right coast equivalent of a Chris Steele?
1st Committed to the scUM. --- Flipped to UF back in Jan. 2019..
Still flirting with UGly, LSU, aTm, plus Clemp's-son, PSU and again the scUM.
He is also rumored to be an academic border line student, possible JuCo.
Offered by Dan/BillyG but still looking around shows me how dumb he is...
Wishy-washy and dumb, got him dropped from a talented 5 star, to a questionable 4 star. o_O
-----
Personally, I like getting a kid like #38 WR Jaquavion Fraziars 6-4 194 **** 207/247
Rec - 48 passes for 778 yds, 16.2 yds/rec.
On defense 107 tkl's, 5 TFL. with 8.2 Tkl's/Gm as a junior.
He is the No.16 athlete and No.37 player in the state of Florida in the class of 2020.

WR Leonard would be a plus on the field,,, but it's the other stuff that makes him a flip of the coin.
Maybe he can get it together between now and NSD...

Sounds like they had a pretty positive recruiting weekend with several 'Official' visitors.

Had another 4 star WR in over the weekend and he seemed pretty happy with what he saw. But he's still looking, so we'll see if he wants to be a Gator, or just more gatorbait... ;)

Well folks, it's not just Athlon Sports. ;)

Lindy's Sports are high on the 2019 Gator too.

With the summer college football magazines on newsstands, the Gators continue to get pretty high praise for their prospects in 2019. Lindy’s Sports is one of the most popular and in depth magazines that you will find, and they have the Gators way up the list in their rankings for this coming football season.

In the latest magazine, the Gators are t3rd among 4 SEC teams in the Top 10, landing at No. 6 in their off season rankings in head coach Dan Mullen’s 2nd at UF.

“Mullen’s reputation as an offensive savant was proven as QB Feleipe Franks gained consistency and was particularly potent at season’s end,” the publication stated. “The Gators averaged 35 points a game and helped bring fever ad fervor back to The Swamp.”

The Gators return a lot on both sides of the ball, including being LAY-O-DED with play makers on offense and a secondary and DL that will be among the best in the SEC.

The SEC has seven teams rated in the Top 25 in the magazine. Alabama (2), Georgia (3), Florida (6), LSU (8), Texas A&M (13), Auburn (15), and Missouri (24) make up 28% of the Top 25 ranked by Lindy’s Sports. (4 SEC's of the Top 6)

The Gators will open the season with the #19 Hurricanes on August 24. Of the SEC teams listed, Florida plays Georgia, LSU, Auburn, and Missouri in what should prove one of the toughest schedules in the country. IF they win the SECe, they would also likely have to play #2 Bama. Yeee-Gads....

Bob Redman of 247:
"This is certainly no knock on the several recruits that Florida has gotten commitments from in the last few months, (liar, that's exactly what it is) but the Gators are in a recruiting slide (at #7) when it comes to landing some of the best athletes that the state of Florida has to offer in the 2019 class (only according to outsiders opinions). Things have to change or the last decade of Florida football and the lack of championships will repeat itself." (negative speculation, delivered like it's some infallible prophecy handed down by an oracle)

The above paragraph reflects the recruiting service's opinions of themselves.
Look at me/us,,, see how important we are! We control the success of your program.

The recruiting services would like for you to believe quality is determined by their stars, which it's NOT! Getting quality recruits for UF is important, but recruiting service stars and class rankings are not. o_O
The trouble with that is the MANY criteria that determines the 'true quality' of a Gator recruit. The selection criteria for all schools (unlike the service stars) is similar, but it's not the exact same.

Stars vs Actual 'On The Field' Results

4 star OG/C Tyler Jordan or 3 star 5.5 OG/C Nick Buchanan

5 star OT Martez Ivey or 3 star Jawaan Taylor?

5 star DE CeCe Jefferson, or 3 stars J.Polite & J.Zuniga?

5 star CB Chris Steele or 4 stars Henderson, Wilson, Dean, Elam....

These things occur all the time. They are not rare exceptions to some recruiting service rule.

~ BTW, the Gator's new Fr 3 star (2018) Kicker was 50/50 on xPts, and 17/19 on FG's, (actually 18/19). ;)

Ole Bob makes a big deal out of UF's 5 de-commits (#11 OK also has 5), but fails to mention that one of them (QB Richardson) has already re-committed, and two others (RB & DL) are un-committed and still strongly considering UF.

He fails to mention the many recruits that Dan has flipped to UF over the past 2 years.
He fails to mention the Grad-xfers and regular xfers that Dan has brought in.

He fails to mention the dozen or more recruits that Dan has beat UGly on for their commit.
Or the many others that Dan got that had top Power-5 offers. o_O

Hey Bob,,, BITE ME! :p

IMO, Franks got much better later in the season, in choosing when to run.
As his passing game improves (reads-accuracy), his need to run diminishes.

Former USC and NFL RB Reggie Bush pointed out via his Twitter account that Gator RB Lamical Perine is a versatile player and agreed with a highlight video that was posted by Harris Highlights that Perine is the best in college football in 2019.

Perine had his best college season in 2018 with 996 yards and 8 TD's from scrimmage at 6.8 yards per touch. -- Bush is known as one of the most electric players in college football history and also versatile in that he could run the ball, catch it and run, and return kicks. For him to talk about Perine in these terms is a big deal. (as a Fr, he was iG's 'dark-horse' FNG, but just another Gator 3 star according to the recruiting services)

https://247sports.com/college/flori...Bush-a-fan-of-Gators-Lamical-Perine-132925643

PS -- I'm not looking for, nor do I care about, Lamical running for over 1,000 yds in 2019, but I'd be just fine with the 3-4 headed Gator RB Monster rushing for 3,000+ yards in combination. Winning games and 'TEAM' rushing yards are what's important, not a single 1,000 yard runner.

QB Jalen Jones sexual battery was never arrested or charged.
He transferred out of school shortly afterwards.

CB Brian Edwards battery charges were investigated and dismissed.

RB Lamical Perine battery charges were dropped.

Gator staffer Otis Yelverton aggravated cyberstalking charges were dropped.
However, he is no longer employed at UF.

Some off season smoke, but as it turns out, no fires occurred....

A lot has been said about the Gator's WR's and RB's, but not much about the TE.
Even with losing co-starters Lewis and Stephens off the 2018 squad, they are solid at TE.

Blocking TE's

88. TE Kemore Gamble rsSo 6-3 246 ****
rsFr - 7 for 58 Yds, 8.3 Yds/Rec, backup TE and ST's.

81. TE/DE Dante Lange rsFr 6-5 253 ****
Chose Florida over Georgia, LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, & Virginia Tech.

Hybrid TE's

14. TE Lucas Krull rsJr 6-6 255 **** (2017 4/50 JuCo xfer, #1 JuCo TE)
Vs LSU, he completed a 15 Yd option throw-back pass to Franks.
Rec. - 6 for 75 Yds, 12.5 Yds/Rec. He also had 3 Tackles on ST's.

#1 TE-H Keon Zipperer Fr 6-3 245 **** UA-AA - Lakeland, FL (summer)
Offers: UF-UA-aTm-AU-UG-LSU-UK-MsSt-TN--Clem-Mia-FSU-OK-Mich-tOSU-TX

84. TE/WR Kyle Pitts So 6-6 246 ****
In his Fr season, he came on late: 3 for 73 Yds, 24.3 Yds/Rec, 1 TD.

If they put a CB on him, he shifts inside.
If they put a LB on him, he shifts outside.
Good luck covering him at either place....

Note: All but rsSo Gamble were brought in by Dan.

LB Kaylan Johnson rsSr - Pitt
OC T.J. McCoy rsSr - UL
DE Antonneous Clayton Sr - GaTech
WR Daquon Green Jr - Murray St.
DE Malik Langham rsFr - VU
----- And a pair of Fr dildos....
QB Jalon Jones Fr - Jackson St
CB Chris Steel Fr - Ore, then again to USC

All for playing time, none were projected 2019 starters.

I was watching a David Blaine interview and something he said struck me. o_O

They were talking about his several human endurance stunts, and he said that in his opinion, most athletes only train and perform at around a 40% output level, and that the human body has much more that it can do if trained and worked properly to it's full capacity.

Gator players should take that to heart when working with Nick Savage.

Per 247's Brad Crawford:
Most important game for every SEC Team in 2019:

Ala - Aub
Ark - UK
Aub - Tx A&M
Fla - Ga
GA - Fla
UK - Tenn
LSU - Fla

Miss - Memphis - Only non-SEC opponent
MsSt - Tenn
Miz - SCa
SCa - UK
Tenn - MsSt
aTm - Aub
Vandy - Miss

Tenn opponent is listed twice - UK &Miz
Fla opponent is listed twice - Ga & LSU
Aub opponent is listed twice - Ala & aTm
-----
Aub is UF's homecoming opponent.
Tenn is a yearly UF opponent.

'Nothing is ever easy,' and this season is certainly no exception to that general rule.

Still no word on the VaTech Grad-xfer PF Kerry Blackshear???

iG uncrosses his fingers and toes, replacing that act with a gigantic 'chit-eatin' GRIN!!! :D

Thanks and WELCOME to the home of the Florida Gators Mr. Blackshear.
Now, get ready to work your butt off with the rest of the guys...

Mr. Blackshear said that he wanted his Grad-transfer destination to have good academics for working on his Masters, well looks like to me, that you made the correct selection!

I don't know how they will all mesh as a TEAM and play for each other, but if they master that, I'd love to see Mike White play 10-12 in the rotation per game, and give other teams a real 40 minutes of HELL experience. --- Talk about 'Work Um Silly Gators'....

To pull off something as extraordinary as that, there can be NO ME FIRST BS on the team. o_OBut if they could pull it off, the Final-4 would be the floor of the expectations for a TRUE CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER GATOR TEAM! :)

Gators by the Numbers

1 NCAA team title (men's indoor track & field) marks the 11th straight season a Gator team won a national team title. Florida has won 20 national team titles since the 2008-09 season.

11 top-10 national team finishes. 18th consecutive season 10 or more Gator teams among final top 10.

5 conference titles by the Gators in 2018-19, including 4 SEC wins. o_O
(AAC-C in Lacrosse)

2 Gators picked up national athlete of the year awards.
10th consecutive season a Gator named national athlete of year,
20 different Gators honored in that span.

7 conference athlete of the year honors claimed by Gators

85 percent Graduation Success Rate for UF, as reported last fall in the 2018 NCAA Federal Graduation Rate Data. All Gator teams are in good academic standing in latest Academic Progress Report released by the NCAA earlier this spring.

3.12 grade point average by Gator student-athletes in 2018-19 academic year

423 student-athletes participated in 3,772 hours of community service in 2018-19, partnering with 90 organizations, including 20 Alachua County schools

The University of Florida, where STUDENT-athlete still means something... o_O

Rankings,,,, 'we don't need no stinking rankings....' ----- ;) - :D

However, -- 7 different Gator position units are in SEC Top 4 according to Phil Steele.

The Gators return several starters on both sides of the ball and are a very mature team in 2019. That maturity and the fact that they will be in the second year of both the offensive and defensive systems, should lead to a better outcome on the field. The ball still has to be kicked, throw, run, and tackled, but 2019 is setting up to be a good year.

Also, Phil Steele has UF at #10 in his preseason Top 40 List.

"Steele, one of the best, if not the best, in the business when it comes to breaking down college football and presenting it in a preseason magazine, has the Gators rated No. 10 in his Preseason Top 40."

“Florida was my Most Improved team last year and went from 4-7 to 10-3,” Steele wrote. “They cannot be my #1 Surprise team this year because they will be in the preseason Top 10. Dan Mullen did a fine job his first year and has 8 starters back on defense and QB Feleipe Franks. The only question is the OL and playing Miami, Georgia and LSU away from home. A win over Georgia in Jacksonville would send them to the SEC Title game.”

The UF Athletic Departments mission:
Delivering a Championship Experience with Integrity.

UF is one of only 3 schools in the NCAA to claim a championship in each of the last 11 consecutive seasons, with the Gators tallying 20 in that span, so multiple NC's in almost half of those 11 years.

Gator Top 10 in the Nation Finishes for 2018-19:

6. Football - New Years 6 Bowl win over #7 Mich.
6. Men's S&D - SEC-C

Off the field, Florida student-athletes posted a 3.12 cumulative GPA for fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters. Overall, 17 of the 19 teams carry a cumulative GPA above 3.0 GPA after the spring of 2019 semester and 351 of our student athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Last month, 4 UF teams – men's basketball, men's cross country, women's golf and women's tennis - were recognized for ranking in the Top 10% of the NCAA Academic Progress Rates.

Eighty-four student athletes graduated in 2018-19, and 57 of them won a national or conference championship during their time at Florida. Close to 80% of them (67 of the 84) earned SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition during their Florida careers.

As for the Gator Nation fans... More than 1 million attended our 140-plus home events last year, many more watched on TV, listened to Mick Hubert on the radio or followed us on various social channels.

For the rest of the story...

The Gator Defense will be good again, but they have a solid chance at being 'very' good....

Likely Gator DL Starters:
1's -- Zuniga rsSr - Campbell Jr - Shuler Sr - Greenard Grad-X Sr
2's -- Carter rsSo - Slaton Jr ---- Conliffe Jr --- Moon rsJr
Others that will be chomping at the bit for playing time at backup and ST's
Acrum rsSr - - Dunlap rsJr - Chatfield rsFr - Humphries Fr

1's ILB David Reese Sr - Amari Burney So (freakazoid)
2's Houston rsSo - Miller rsSo (2018 UF STs PoY)
And a rather large group of OLB-DE-BUCK types that will be looking to solidify a position.
Brunson rsSo Reese rsFr -- & Fr Pierre - Diabate - Bogle - Summerall - Hopper

I expect to see some shifting around on starters, with many getting in the rotations.

Steele's magazine is celebrating its 25th anniversary as one of the most accurate preseason prognostications in the country.

Phil Steele's 2019 Pre-season Top 25 has arrived:

25. VaTech
24. MsSt
23. Iowa
22. Stanford
21. IowaSt
-----
20. PSU
19. Neb
18. AU
17. aTm

16. Wash
-----
15. scUM
14. TCU
13. MichSt
12. Ore
11. TX
-----
10. UF
9. Neutered Lame
8. Utah
7. LSU
6. tOSU
-----
5. Choke-la-homo
4. UGly
3. Mich
2. Clemp's-son
1. Red-Turds

The SEC has 7 in the Top 25, with 4 in the Top 10.
The Gators play 4 Top 25's, and a 5th IF they make it to the SEC-C game.

SDS -- While Florida’s offense took a big leap in Year 1 under Dan Mullen, the defense also had a bounce back season following a season of growing pains in 2017.

Gator D, better or worse for 2019? (off the top, iG/homer says better)
Key losses, 1 DE, 1 LB, 1 Star/Nic
All holes have been filled with as good or better.

Gator O, better or worse for 2019? (off the top, iG/homer says better)
Key losses, 4 OL, 2 TE's, 1 RB
TE covered.
RB covered.
OL Looks covered, 4 of 5 expected starters have starts.
The lack of experienced depth is still a question to be determined.

Special Teams, better or worse for 2019? (off the top, iG/homer says better)
The BEST kicker combo in the nation imo.
Coverage on both punts and KO's needs to improve, and it should in 2nd year.

This does not mean an undefeated season because better play doesn't always translate to more wins. 9-11 wins is what I've expected for 2019 since the bowl win over Mich. I see positive growth for the football program, and that will eventually mean more wins. How soon remains to be seen.

Yes? -- No? ---- Why??? o_O

GAINESVILLE, Fla.--Former Florida first baseman Pete Alonso blasted his way to the 2019 T-Mobile Home Run Derby title on Monday night in Cleveland.

Alonso joins Darryl Strawberry as the only two New York Mets players to win the crown. Alonso is the first former UF player to win a home run derby title and just the second player from the SEC to take win, joining Auburn's Frank Thomas.

Alonso hit 23 home runs in the final round to defeat fellow rookie Vlad Guerrero, Jr. and claim the title. Despite qualifying for an extra 30 seconds, Alonso clinched the title in the allotted four minutes.

Isn't gatorbait used to catch gators? It doesn't end well for the gator. I've always thought that was funny.

Meanwhile the gator is dead... as the bait was intended to accomplish.
For the record, the timeout was legit... lucky and saved you, but legit nonetheless.
Thanks for the reminder that GA-FL started in the 50s... Insta's safe space. :)

I'm not on a buttsniffer board beating my chest, like you nuttlicker trolls are here.
You are wishing that the #6 ranked Gators were dead, instead of you lame #8 mutts.

Yep, every time that the Gators have beat your leghumpers in the last 69 years, 4 decades to 2, it's always been luck. But back in your Great-Great-Granddaddy's leather helmet days, it was because Jawja was such a great team. Especially that 1904 team that played a local Gainesville 0-5 intramural team, so desperate to claim a 'safe-space' win....
