I dont waste 15 minutes at a gas station either. I can fill the tank in the majority of gas stations in less then 5 minutes. And I can drive over 400 miles on a tank. Cant say the same for electric cars.
First, when planning for a lengthy drive or road trip you have to plan your route around where charging stations can be found and schedule around that. Charging stations arent nearly as abundant as gas stations.
Then you have to sit for 20-40 minutes while waiting for your car to charge. So you can drive 225 miles and do it again. While youre sitting at a charging station doing nothing Im cruising down the road making progress getting to my destination. Add in the cost of replacing a battery for those electic cars--no thanks. Ill never buy an electric car as long as I dont have to.
You nailed it with "they dont want to know" what goes into producing an EV. It goes against their argument that EV's are awesome and gas vehicles are bad.
I wouldn't be spending 87k on a similar conventional vehicle. I could get a very similarly equipped Camry for around 40k. I could drive that Camry for 10-15 years easily, longer if I wanted to. I'll spend less than 2k per year on fuel.
So I come out ahead in 8 years. I come out WAY ahead after that.
For a vehicle that I rarely drive that can do things that your vehicle cannot. I couldn't replace my F350 with a Tesla. Any Tesla.
It makes perfect business sense not to try to use a Tesla to pull a 25' trailer or a boat. 😂

Again...they can't or won't understand the concept that it's way more than just no tail pipe out and no gas in to this EV. All the that other "unpleasantness" of the EV happens somewhere else....so it's easily ignored.
