Batteries cost more than the car

Not if you make over $150k.

Under new laws...these credits go away unless a certain amount of the vehicle components are built in America. However this is not the issue. The issue is...NO ONE WANTS ONE. Read the news..these vehicles are sitting on EVERY dealers lots, and the doors are not being opened by any customers. Go back to the beginning of this or any thread and see what I posted. This is the BIGGEST boondoggle of my lifetime. There was ZERO chance this was going to work like they said it would. It will one day when infrastructure is in place, and batteries get WAY, WAY better. But for now...this was a joke played on IDIOTS that believe the BS of man made climate change. (Truly...these cars do more damage to the environment than fossil fuel vehicles do)

Note: I have been in the auto industry for 4 decades. I am not guessing here.

Again, using basic logic why would the govt need ANY tax credit for something everyone wanted and felt was a good value?

To speed the ado motion of something that they feel is beneficial to the countries interests. Price elasticity

And it doesn't work...I can almost guarantee you the moment electric carmakers heard about the rebate their prices increased by exactly that amount.
They didn’t it but thanks for the guarantee!!!
Good lord man this info isn’t locked in a vault.

While we are on the subject of the car business....I am SHOCKED at the amount of ILLEGAL ALIENS coming in to buy cars...on credit. One quick way to tell is that they do not have SS#'s, but have cards that look EXACTLY like SS cards called ID purpose only. All of them begin with the number "9". I used to see 3-4 a year...now it is more like 15 -20 a month. And I do not live in an area that one would think would be highly conducive to an ILLEGAL ALIEN wanting to live. We are very rural/beach/conservative. There are WAY, WAY WAY more of them here than is being told to us.

And they have good enough credit to actually buy a car? How in the hell does an immigrant from a s-hole country have the resources to buy even a beater?

Your crystal ball see lots of repo's?

No, most do not have any credit, however some do. The ones that have been here mostly have BOA(Bank of America) because they are woke and go above and beyond to help these people even more than they do "REAL Americans".

As far as Repo's...NO...What I see is when one of them finally get approved, they use their credit to straw purchase for other ILLEGALS, or buy vehicles, and sub lease them. Banks catch on to that eventually. But for the most part, these Illegals pay their bills, and lay VERY low. they do not want unwanted attention.

All that being said, I hope when Trump gets re elected, he ships every one back where they came from , and then they can go get in line like the people who did it the right way did

Last thing. We have only one bank that will lend to them. They charge "points" to do business, in itself...that is illegal. They charge "US", but of course that gets passed on to the customer. They may charge us 1000-2000 up front fees to do the deal.

Stay in your lane, son...you know less than ZERO about what you are talking about. LESS THAN ZERO. You are dumber than a red brick about EVERYTHING. TYPICAL lefty that opens his big mouth without knowing what you are talking about. ALL of these deals are done at STATE CAP interest rates...charging ANYTHING more is usurious. Now go back and crawl under your rock, son...until I tell you you can come out.

I will give you credit for not acting like a snowflake anymore. But you know absolutely nothing about finance. Zero.

You talking about someone who doesn't know about finance while you don't know squat about Jamie Dimon.

Just worked a deal on a Tesla trade in 2017 X 75D. I thought it was worth 20-21. Got a call from a wholesaler for 26. Guy owed 45K. OH LAWD....they do not hold their value! LOL Just on more reason to SHY AWAY. Probably because the battery is about done. 7 years and 67000 miles on it, so not a bunch of battery life left. SAY LOUDLY....BOONDOGGLE for dummies!

he owed 45? LOL, he bought it in 2020 or 21 then, he didnt buy it new. most people that bought a used car in that time frame got killed as trumpflation deflated in the used car market.. But, do teslas depreciate more quickly? they do, its advanced technology. my model S is a 2017 that has gone from 108 all in to around 30k now. This is likely to continue until we get on the less steep portion of the S curve.

very clear to see where trumplation hit....When will you liberals learn, you cannot print print print your way to prosperity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wasted a bunch of energy here. VERY sorry to have to tell you that NOTHING you say is true in your post. The #1 thing that determines value on vehicles..new or used is supply and demand. (unless some HORRIBLE news comes out about that particular vehicle that everyone needs to bail on that particular vehicle) (Toyota had a sudden unexpected acceleration problem 10-12 years ago on Avalons, and the value went down 50% overnight)

Your Tesla does not sell well used because people know that a 5-7 yr old EV with miles on it will need a 15-20k battery very soon, and they are sitting on lots with the doors not being opened because of that...and the many other obstacles that we have discussed so many times in this thread.

what year was the x you were talking about nickel.

That’s what I said nickel. Mine has dropped 70% too. It’s high tech, that’s the deal. It’s slowing down as the tech advances but has a ways to go.
Has NOTHING to do with high tech in this particular case. If an incredible battery came out...lets ay one that doubled the range..it would. I admit I do not follow EV's close as I DESPISE them being forced on us(like 85% of Americans do) but I have not heard of outdated technology on these cars

Of course it does you idiot. Since 2017 the battery power has increased over 60%. Smarten up and deal with facts not feels..

I guess the biggest idiot would be the idiot who bought one and lost all that money, son. Did you buy one? Not sit the F down and shut your idiot pie hole...son.
if they could not afford the luxury for sure, but people do go out to 500 dollar steak dinners nickel, not everyone goes to the sizzler.
