Batteries cost more than the car

i have not seen one yet, i drive a model S. As i have told the people on here, its the best car i have ever driven, hands down. I am looking forward to seeing a cyber truck..
I wouldn't mind test driving one if that's something one can do.

But in addition to compensating for a small unit and making me feel like a big man, I also on occasion use my truck to carry things like furniture and lumber, and to pull my boat.

During 2020 2021 the height of the massive stimi checks yes, Tessy has ramped up production dramatically to keep pace with demand.
Here's the thing. I am not averse to EV, and I would be flabbergasted if I went a hundred years in the future and we weren't completely off fossil fuel vehicles.

And I think that Tesla is doing a splendid job of providing infrastructure for their product.

The problem as I see it is that the government, while handing out "stimi" in the form of a 7k write-off, is not fixing the back-end to compensate. Simply put, the grid can't handle all these new charging stations.

The trades in this country are in decline. The majority of tradesmen are in their fifties, and the newest generation seems unwilling to become the next linemen, boilermakers, hvac, electricians, etc.

Our highway infrastructure is as much as 30 years past its expiration date.

In my neighborhood in Middleburg, which is twenty years old, they just got around to burying the power cables, and that's because XFinity was installing fiber optic cable so they did it at the same time.

Given the fact that nuclear power is strictly verboten, wind and solar not yet producing reliable output and even our coal fired plants being given sustaining repairs instead of replacement vessels, this push to go completely EV 2040 seems doomed to fail without vigorous upgrades of our power grid infrastructure.

The grid will catch up, opportunities are always pounced on by those willing to take the risk to make money. It’s capitalism….

It is odd how triggered the snowflakes get when ev’s are brought up. It’s comical.

Elon is hardly your average business owner.
yes, i know. what is your point? you said you are worried about the grid, thats what every trumper says about the ev revolution, every single one. my response, caputalism will handle it, as it does with most things. there is an opportunity, as yo say, not enough capacity. somebody will figure out how to make money on that opportunity. meanwhile, the tessy is an amazing car, go test drive a model S.

Then why hasn't he? Seems to me a power plant that he owns can sell power to the government and would be the latest technology and one hundred percent compatible with his new charging stations, plus patents for any innovations he comes up with.

I know you aren't stupid, so ask yourself why a successful billionaire is starting at the finish line, as it were. Ask yourself why, and dig deep before dismissing it as trumper sheep nonsense.

why isnt he? elon isnt worried about grid capacity, you are. if you and the rest of the anti ev crowd are correct about grid capacity, somebody will swoop in and make a killing. thats how capitalism works. just look back and see how silly the peak oil argument was 50-60 years ago, people that have an agenda, are not to be trusted. PERIOD. you beleive all the climate scientists too? i grew up in miami, it was supposed to be underwater by the year 2000. Shocking how that didnt happen...

You're evading.

And you're lumping me in with the anti EV crowd when I have categorically stated I think it's the future once the grid supports it.

Pardon me if I believe someone should have already done the swooping.

Musk was forward thinking enough to invest in the charging stations himself and those don't make money. A power plant does once its built.

he absolutely makes money from charging stations, where are you getting that he doesnt??? this is what i am talking about, stop tethering yourself to a moronic point of view.

This is hogwash.

Peak oil and climate change have nothing to do with grid infrastructure.

The age and energy production of every non nuclear power plant is available online. Your precious California current suffers from blackouts and rolling brownouts now.

The fact that the grid is woefully need of an upgrade before the advent of electric vehicles is not junk science you could literally do the math yourself.

i dont live in caliornia, and it has everything to do with it. you hate EV's, youre like every other right wing genius out there, you lump them in with climate change so it must be bad, its the boogy man... the left did the same thing with peak oil, Oh my god, we are going to run out we have to have standards and limits!!! We will see how this plays out, i am sure you and the band of geniuses will be proven correct. in the meantime, go test a model S, educate yourself.

The charging stations might pay the cost of the electricity bill. if he owned the plant that powered them he'd make a profit.

Tell me, has insulting people ever brought people around to your point of view or is just for your amusement?

I find it amusing that you and GoMM use the exact same tactics to buttress opposing points.

so you want him to own power plants too? again, give him a call.

lol, ok, that may be the funniest thing you have said here.. you guys keep on fighting the good fight, progress is scary for many many people. people cling to the familiar.
This type of thinking is why good ideas fail or are deferred.

Someone thought it would save space to use 2 digits instead of 4 and coders worked frantically to rewrite code so the world wouldn't crash at midnight 2000.

Forward thinking people make things scalable so they can be easily expanded and upgraded.

Most of this countries problems stem from being reactive instead of proactive.

New front-end tech on old back-end tech leads to huge headaches, ask anyone in any technology industry. It's called a bottleneck.

yes, somebody forward thinking, ie a business man, will pounce all over this "problem" that you and your fellow anti ev folks see as sooooo glaring. this is a political argument, its not a business argument, i am not political, i could give a rats ass about politics. thats the disconnect...

I'm not anti EV and you appear to post just to read your own thoughts so I'll leave you to it.

GO GATORS!
