It's interesting to me to see the programs that are throwing huge dollars around and then compare that to the performance on the field. Auburn hasn't been surpassed by too many when it comes to spending on facilities, coaches, etc.
Here are Auburn's highlights 2016 for the major sports:
- Football (7-6) - last in the SEC West (2-6)
- Basketball (11-20) - 13th in the SEC (5-13)
- Baseball (23-33) - 13th in the SEC (8-22)
- SEC All Sports Trophy - 9th overall (Men finished 13th)
People complain about UF's facilities, that we spend too little on coaches (or too much for others like Muschamp!) but there's one thing I know, as far as producing results and consistent winning programs, I wouldn't trade places with Auburn and certainly wouldn't want to be their AD (or Gus Malzahn) if 2017 looks similar to 2016. Apparently throwing a lot of money around doesn't automatically equate to winning programs.
