University of Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison has been named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week, the foundation announced on Sunday.
The Gator senior was instrumental in Florida’s win over third-ranked Ole Miss, 38-10. Morrison recorded 16 tackles in the contest with five of those being unassisted. The Bellwood, Ill. native also contributed 3.5 tackles for a loss and half a sack on Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly.
Morrison is the seventh Florida player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the second defensive honoree and first since DB Loucheiz Purifoy on Oct. 6, 2013.

This is the 12th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defense player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.
