another 2nd half lead blown

Year 4 for White and we are terrible and may end up with a losing record.

I like the guy but everybody knows where I stand on his coaching abilities.

sadgator isn’t so sure how “awesome” he is, but sadgator fully and completely supports Mike White. We are a LONG way off from the final story being written on this coaching tenure.

I get optimism but his coaching makes no sense.

Didn’t watch a minute of game (shame)...
No need to watch. Every game is the same. We stand around on offense on the perimeter and shoot more 3s than 2s. We are terrible on offense and have no system. We play good defense for the majority of the game but have mental breakdowns where we leave guys wide open. We don’t defend the perimeter well at all. If we happen to have the lead in the 2nd half our offense gets even worse and we end up losing the game.

This is how it has been for all 4 of his years. In fact even with the one good team he had all the above was still true with that team.

It’s been the same issues for 4 years. That’s just bad coaching.

Looking at our remaining 15 games, I see 8 almost guaranteed losses. I would not be surprised if we end up with a losing overall record. Very poor considering the individual talent.

Put this on another thread, but I found these stats on another site:
Mike White records during his time at Florida so far: Ranked Opponents:8-16 Conference:35-23 SEC Tourney:1-3 March Madness:4-2 Record while ranked:27-16 Top 10 teams:2-6 Top 5 teams:0-4 Florida State:0-4 Games decided by 5 points or less:11-22

I put this on another thread too, but I'll join you in a re-post...

This is on the players, and mostly the upperclassmen, not the coaches or their offensive system. 5 of Florida's 7 losses have come by 7 points or less and all but the season-opening blowout at FSU have been one-possession games inside the final two minutes. When pl;ayers don't make open shots, it's not the coach or the system that's the problem. o_O

Allen Sr 17 Pts
Nembhard Fr 13 Pts
Locke Fr 12 Pts
K.Johnson Fr 11 Pts (jmoho, but Johnson should be starting instead of Hudson)
And Ballard So and Bassett rsSo should also be getting more of the playing time.

IMOHO, the cure for many of the problems is on the way in the 2019 class...

And if Gak and Stokes want to play next season, then they had better be working their butts off this year to lose weight an get in playing condition. Otherwise, why even have them on the roster? Accountability. There's talking about accountability, and then there's actually BEING accountable.... o_O

The fevered brain got bitch-slapped on Dan's recruiting, so now he brings his expertise and insights to White's Ball coaching... Typical...

And if White didn't miss for many wide open shots, they they would be going so much better...

So what exactly is it hat the coach does then? Shouldn't he be...idk....coaching and teaching and correcting?

Naw, he just goes to lay out on the beach every day and work on his tan. He doesn't coach or recruit or anything,,, what a bum.

Making his head coaching debut at age 35 in 2011-12, White took one of the youngest rosters in the nation to its first WAC Tournament final in program history, upsetting both Utah State and top-seeded Nevada along the way. During his 2nd season in the bench, the Bulldogs reeled off a program-record 18-game winning streak and appeared in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings for the first time in 28 years. In White’s 2nd season, finishing 27-7 overall, and a 12-win bump in conference action as a 16-2 mark earned the Bulldogs a WAC Co-championship. The 16 conference wins also set a school record, and White was named the Don Haskins WAC Coach of the Year, the United States Basketball Writers Association District VII Coach of the Year and NABC District 6 Coach of the Year.

In 2013-14, Louisiana Tech moved into Conference USA, but White’s squad did not miss a beat as the Bulldogs matched the program record with 29 victories, including an 8-game road winning streak, finishing 29-8 and 13-3 in C-USA White, the 2014-15 Conference USA Coach of the Year, came to the Gators after leading Louisiana Tech to a 101-40 record (.716) over the past 4 seasons, including 3 straight conference championships. At LA Tech, White established a high-energy, fast-paced system that allows players to flourish. In 4 seasons at LA Tech, the Bulldogs averaged 74.2 points, 7.4 3-pointers made, 14.0 assists, 8.4 steals, 4.9 blocked shots and 16.1 turnovers forced (7th in the nation during that span). In addition to 3 straight conference championships, he coached the 2015 C-USA Player of the Year, a 2015 AP All-American, two WAC Newcomer of the Year winners, the 2014 C-USA Sixth Man of the Year, multiple All-Defensive Team nods, the 2014 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and LA Tech’s all-time assists (858) record-holder.

White’s 48 wins through his first 2 years rank 4th in SEC history. In posting a 6-win improvement over his debut season at UF, White helped the Gators reach 27 wins for just the 8th time in school history. The Gators’ 34 regular season SEC wins over the past three seasons rank second-most in the league.

After 3 consecutive 20+ win seasons, recruits have noticed. For a 2nd straight year, the Gators have three ESPN Top 100 players among their incoming freshman class in 2018. The last 2 recruit classes combined have 3 5-Stars and 3 4-Stars.
~ WAC Coach of the Year.
~ Conf-USA Coach of the Year.
~ SEC Coach of the Year.
