Just caught this from Alabama's team:

Alabama has already lost five scholarship players to transfers this year in quarterbacks Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) and Layne Hatcher (Arkansas State), offensive lineman Richie Petitbon (Illinois), defensive back Kyriq McDonald (Cincinnati) and long snapper Scott Meyer (Vanderbilt).

In addition: #4 player overall from last year's recruiting cycle, 5-star Eyabi Anoma is in the portal.

Less to do with AL but more that the Gators losing 4 from last cycle may be the new normal in college football. Nobody runs a tighter ship than Saban and if AL is bleeding players then this may continue to be the new normal.

Tnat must be why the bammer suck up has been so quiet lately.

This happens everywhere. Only so called UF fans want to shut the program down when it happens here too. A&M just lost two 4-stars from their 2019 class to enrollment issues too.

We lost a lot of new recruits before camp not just players buried on the depth chart wanting to transfer. I hope losing a lot of new recruits before camp isn't the new normal.

Get used to it. With this transfer portal and many kids being able to play immediately we now basically have free agency in college football.

The difference is that we lost 4 players (3 4-stars) from our 2019 class before it showed up for Fall practice. Worse yet is that the situation with Arjei Henderson remains very uncertain. Henderson is still apparently "taking a class" and will miss all of Fall practice and likely not report until the Fall Semester. The odds of this guy not showing up at all are at least 50/50. That would be 5 players (4 4-stars) gone from the 2019 class before we played our first game of 2019 -- horrible attrition.

I think Wilson may be the biggest threat to lose him if he doesn't get his VISA by the start of Fall classes. That situation is nuts as he has been trying to get it since December or so and had no issue getting one for high school football.

Henderson if he truly has qualified will be here by the start of Fall classes.

One good thing to come out out of the popularity of this portal stuff is Bama not being able to keep/convince as many good players from moving to other teams.

Oh yeah - this isn't a cover for bad recruiting or other attrition related issues. Just stating the facts.

I do think this will mean that we'll have to have differing stats to show us where a recruiting class really is in real time, and ends up year after year.

Main point is that attrition rates are up all over - nothing more.

Doom,,, Dispair,,, Pain & Ag-go-knee.... :rolleyes:

Xfer Portal

CB Steele - a backup at best, maybe 3rd string with all was said and done in Fall practice.

QB J.Jones - 4th string, a fo-sho redshirt

This was 'team' addition by subtraction imoho. Better to lose the 2 dildos now than later.

----------

ILB/Buck Black - a backup at best and a likely redshirt - JuCo

OG Hammond - a backup at best and a likely redshirt - JuCo

These two have a very good chance of returning, as developed Jr's ready to go.

==========

OL Wilson - Be in eventually, Green Card holdup, but fully qualified otherwise.

WR Marks qualified and in - most depth on team, redshirt unless ST's and/or KR

WR Henderson qualified - most depth on team, redshirt unless ST's and/or KR

===========

A whole lot of drama-queen pantie wetting, over nothing much imo. :cool:

I don’t know about y’all but this recent news makes me think we should shut the program down again. May as well we’ll be losing to UGA for the next 10 years anyway.

Only five if you count Anoma as LS Meyer was a non-starting walk-on. In fact none of these were starters. As bammer likes to say they wus processed.

A Bama poster who drops in on the UK site from time to time (usually with good info) has stated that Anoma is having some personal issues and predicts he'll end up at Maryland.

Yeah - Maryland is making some moves so that makes sense.

The main point was that attrition, post-signing day is probably on the rise moving forward.

He put in before Spring. I think he had been in trouble before and talked to Saban and withdrew. Got suspended again (by the University I think) this Summer and went back in the Portal. He was not enrolled in school.
