Does anyone remember when Trump announced he was running for President in 2016? It was in the Summer of 2015. So if DeSantis was gonna run for Prez, he would have to announce in the Summer of 2023. If he wanted to be Trump's VP, maybe he could wait till the end of 2023.

Either way, it's a horrible look to rake in massive cash for his re-election, win re-election in November, then turn around and 6-12 months later say 'Whups.....sorry guys, I decided to quit and run for Prez/VP!"

Media would eat him alive. And it would stick.

DeSantis in 2026 makes sense for Florida, it makes sense for America.

They would try but I think many sitting Governors have ran for POTUS shortening their term or possibly shortening their term if they won. Aren't about half of the governorship elections in mid-terms or are most in POTUS election years?

I guess if he wanted to really push it DeSantis could buy a house in another state that considers you a resident real quickly before the election and if Trump won move right then selling his FL home and register to vote and get a drivers license from there real quickly before the electors vote in early January. I think the Constitution just says the electors in a state cant vote for 2 people from that same state.

Yes, 2028, sorry. His 2nd term would end in 2026, he could take 6 months off, then start campaigning for prez in 2028. Plus he would have another 4 years of progress in Florida to point toward, and it would be even easier for voters to look at what he'd done in Florida, and think wow, what if he did that for the whole country?

IMO him running in 2024 only hurts his chances of winning, him running in 2028 only helps his chances of winning.

Crazy - just shows you how social media and college professors etc. can influence people - especially single college educated females. Unbelievable a group could have actually turned more toward Dems after the last 15 months.

Social media and all this mess is one reason why young females are refusing to settle down in their 20s now and why many are remaining permanently single after that even though they had intentions to marry in their 30s. I would lean against it just because DeSantis would have to move for that to happen which means he would have to resign as Governor. Not sure if moving after seeing if Trump won in that 8 week window would fly legally or not.
