We know the deal with QB, but we got a good idea of how things are going to look this season at other positions.
Running back – Kelvin Taylor started Saturday but we saw an active rotation of he, Jordan Scarlett and Jordan Cronkrite. All three should see good time moving forward. Case Harrison and Mark Herndon were in mostly mop-up duty, but Harrison saw a little more time.
Wide receiver – McElwain mentioned going 9 deep on game days and these were the nine who played Saturday: Demarcus Robinson, Brandon Powell, Antonio Callaway, Ahmad Fulwood, C.J. Worton, Valdez Showers, Alvin Bailey, Chris Thompson, Roger Dixon. (UF also played Hargreaves and Grady as WRs on a few plays.) Latroy Pittman probably replaces Dixon when he’s back next weekend. Kalif Jackson, Ryan Sousa and Raphael Andrades didn't play Saturday.
Tight end – McGee, Lewis and Goolsby should be the primary three moving forward as expected. Moral Stephens didn’t play Saturday while Camrin Knight did.
OL – Lineup was LT Sharpe, LG Thurman, C Dillard, RG Riles, RT Halter. Florida played Tyler Jordan, Fred Johnson and Travaris Dorsey as its next three up, with Andrew Mike also seeing some snaps. When Martez Ivey’s back, UF could go 9-10 deep with this group if it chooses. Unless depth dwindles due to injury, right now doesn’t look like many of UF’s other freshmen will play this year.
DL – Jordan Sherit mentioned the defensive staff wanting to go 10 deep along the defensive front. Bullard, Brantley, Cox, Sherit, Clark, Bryan, Ivie, Jefferson, Holley and Reed played Saturday. When McCalister’s back next weekend, UF could even go 11 deep if it chooses. It doesn’t seem like Keivonnis Davis, Jabari Zuniga and Luke Ancrum will crack the rotation unless numbers ever take a hit due to injury.
Linebackers – UF played Antonio Morrison, Alex Anzalone, Jarrad Davis, Daniel McMillian and Jeremi Powell. That seems like the primary five with UF operating mainly out of the nickel. Maybe Matt Rolin sees some chances at some point when he’s healthy. Really depends how much progress he makes. Guys like Anthony Harrell and Rayshad Jackson, who didn't play Saturday, are behind that group.
Defensive backs: UF went 10 deep Saturday: Hargreaves, Poole, Tabor, Wilson, Washington, Dawson, Porter, Marcell Harris, Chris Williamson, Kylan Johnson. (Dawson didn’t play much as a punishment for arriving late to practice, per his mother). UF was without Keanu Neal and Marcus Maye and could get both back soon. Should be interesting to see how deep UF goes in future games, but guys like Porter, Harris, Williamson and Johnson have a lot of competition to try to beat out for playing time outside of special teams.
