West - Alabama only 2-0 team; beats TAMU like a drum - 52-24
Arkansas beating Miss State surprised me; 1st SEC win for Arkansas in years; Franks (2 TDs) outplays Costello (3 INT)

East - Florida, Georgia, & Tennessee - 2-0
Paco's prediction of Georgia - Auburn game plays out; 27-6 Dawgs

Bama will beat UGA & we will have to beat UGA to win East.

Bama thrashed TAMU; Gators looked poor on defense & average on offense against Muschamp & S-Carolina.

Unless Tenn is better than I think, two games will decide the SEC - Bama vs UGA & The Cocktail Party.

After going back to look at UGA's stats in the Auburn game, I think that both Bama & Gators will have their hands full with the Dawgs.

As superdawg51 posted, UGA defense is fast & well coached; they completely shut down Auburn - 6 points.

Dawg's OL & run game starting to emerge as well. by the time UGA plays Bama, their timing on offense will be better. Bama's defense equal to Dawgs & their offense is better, so should be an interesting game.

From the ESPN game summary - "Auburn was held to a pair of field goals. The offense simply never got going behind Bo Nix, who completed just 21 of 40 passes for 177 yards. The running game was no help at all, held to 39 yards and a 1.8-yard average per carry."

People talk about Mathis & what he has overcome, but I'm starting to like Stetson Bennett. He will never be flashy or become a Heisman candidate, but he is mobile & is becoming a good game manager, which may be enough.

Dawgs have won a lot of games with good running, defense, & special teams. Zamir White isn't Herschel, just a good player.

I was thinking of the Herschel Walker years & could not remember their QB; had to look it up - Buck Belue - just another UGA game manager; all he had to do was avoid mistakes.

I've been saying the dawgs D is best in the league. Their offense looked great in the first half, but Auburn shut them down in the second half after making some adjustments. Dawgs O this year will be up and down with more down than up. Question will be can their D keep brining them Ws.

4 SEC's still undefeated:

SEC-W
Alabama

SEC-E
Florida -- next @ aTm
---
UGly
Tennis-sea
One of those will lose next Saturday.
Another instance of it being to bad that they can't both lose... ;)

What a difference a week makes huh? Obviously Ga's offense is a work in progress but the win versus Auburn was a step in the right direction. Biggest stat that stood out for me.....per Espn, Ga rushed 38 times between the tackles for 179 yards, 12 first downs and 2 tds. That is pretty impressive. Looks like the Oline is finding themselves. Monken called a great game (balanced attack) as well so that is encouraging. Can't say enough about SB IV.....he's earned his status the hard way. I couldn't be happier for the kid. His play is keeping Daniels on the bench. As far as the "D" is concerned anytime you can hold an upper tier SEC program to fg's that's an accomplishment. Lanning has depth throughout but the speed with which they play is a game-changer.

Story of the day, JMOHO's of course.... ;)

Both Mond and Nix had very bad days. Do-Do Occurs....
How much of that was due to the opposing D's is the question?

Stetson Bennett not flashy, but mobile enough to keep out of trouble & get the WIN !

Dawgs looked a lot better than I wanted them to !

Paco correct about Auburn & Gus Malzahn; Dawgs defense for real; held them to 2 FGs.

Georgia must turn around and prepare for one of the biggest games of the week with Tennessee for the CBS Game of the Week.
Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET and you can watch the game on CBS or stream it on CBS Sports.

Georgia has won the last three meetings between these SEC East rivals and holds a narrow edge in the all-time series with a 24-23-2 record.

The Vols enter the contest with plenty of confidence and an eight-game winning streak dating back to last season. Tennessee rode its physical offensive line and ground game to a comfortable 35-12 win against Missouri on Saturday,

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs are in the midst of a brutal start to their 10-game SEC schedule, with Tennessee falling in a tricky sandwich spot between Auburn and Alabama. That highly anticipated matchup with the Tide is set for a primetime 8 p.m. ET kickoff, also on CBS, in Week 7.

FWIW Dawgs - 13.5 Pt favorite

Actually Auburn never stopped us in the second half. We only had 3 possessions in the second half and never punted. We kicked a fg on our first drive, missed a fg on our second drive, and ran out the clock on our final drive.

No. 14 Tennessee (+12.5) at No. 3 Georgia:
The Bulldogs have blown the doors off the Volunteers the last three seasons. The Dawgs have won three straight by an average of 32 points per game. So what in the world am I doing taking Tennessee here? It's a valid question, and it's one with an answer based more on feel than trends.

NOTE: He's NOT picking Tennessee straight up; only Against the arbitrary CBS Sports Line Spread - big deal !

Stetson Bennett IV played well against Auburn last weekend, but I view him as more of the calming presence, game-manager type of QB. He's not a game-changer. In fact, if Bennett starts for Georgia again, I would give Tennessee the QB advantage in this matchup.

So What ? - many observers (myself included) have characterized Stetson Bennet as a game manager; the QB advantage (if there truly is one) won't stop Dawgs from pounding Vols.

Now that said, Georgia has the superior defense, but while that defense ran roughshod over Auburn last weekend, Tennessee's offensive line is better. I don't think things will be nearly as easy this week.

Cade Mays won't make Vols OL that much better

This Tennessee team comes into the game with confidence having won its last eight games, and it's the most talented team Jeremy Pruitt has put together.

Jeremy Pruitt, in 2 years & 2 games, is 15-12 as a HC; so calling this his most talented team isn't saying much.

Sports Writer speak is much like Coach Speak - total BS !

Perhaps we should look at Vols' last eight opponents before we get too excited -

Four of the eight wins against S Carolina & Missouri, then toss in Vandy & UAB Blazers; doesn't leave much to talk about !

Kentucky & Indiana the only decent teams Vols played; they won those two games by a total of 5 points.

Season's records in parenthesis.

2019
S Carolina (4-8) W 41-21
UAB Blazers (9-5) W 30-7
Kentucky (8-5) W 17-13
Missouri (6-6) W 24-20
Vanderbilt (3-9) W 28-10
Indiana (8-5) W 23-22 (Tax Slayer Bowl)
2020
S Carolina (0-2) W 31-27
Missouri (0-2) W 35-12

I don't think the Vols have much chance of winning, but they won't be blown out again. Georgia 24, Tennessee 16

REALLY ?

Im not impressed with Georgia..... Like most seasons

fsu939913,

I don't WANT to be impressed with UGA either - BUT they have beaten us the last 3 years & won the last 3 SEC East division titles & 1 SEC Championship.

Mullen has definitely turned the Gator program around ! But, until we win the Cocktail Party & get to Atlanta, not much we can say.

You scored 3 points. That is being shut down.

Tenn is a power running team. It will be tough sledding for them against dawg front. On the other hand, this will be the best offensive line they've seen. This will also be the best defense dawgs have seen easily. Probably low scoring game that dawgs win based on deeper talent.

I think you guys beat them this yr and make the playoffs.....

Haha... whatever you say. They never stopped us. That's not being shut down. Shut down is what we did to Auburn last week.
2nd half went like this... each team had 3 possessions. Auburn received the 2nd half kickoff.

problematically, I'm not sure Auburn is any good. AndI got my bachelors there. I'm not sure what any SEC team is right now, other than the fact that Alabama is consistent.

you’ve got it all figured out. Not sure why we are even proceeding with the season.

Oh, unbeaten count may be down to three before Tenn and UGAy even kickoff.

I thought the object of the game was to score points? You got shut down in the second half. Not that hard to understand. Only score 3 in the second half today and you will lose.

With Trask we could upset GA but with them looking like they might get a running game going again (looks bad against TN however) its probably going to be a tough task with our defense. A&M loss probably eliminates any chance of the loser winning the SEC East.

Our D is really bad. I expect losses to dawgs and vols. Ky, mizzou and arky will be battles. We should beat vandy and lsu.

Maybe Tennessee comes back and wins this game but Georgia is a LOT better then them

We looked better thaN TXAM at times but not a lot of distance, hugely attributable to terrible defensive coordinating and some missed plays, like that missed INT that went for a TD

Amy improvement on defense and our kids don’t lose another game

The late turnover was awful, gotta win or OT there, Memphis did same last week

The object is to win the game. When you control the other team like we did Auburn, you can do that. Regardless, Auburn never stopped us.
