38-0 Gators up at halftime - Gator Fever is...

He said Franks would look good against Charleston Southern and everyone on this board would go crazy about him and then he’d get pulled against UK. So nothing unexpected for Fev’ so far.

I thought they looked good, but it was like a second Spring game.

Mac’s influence already showing up for Michigan. On that 4th down play, the wr didn’t come within 10 yards of the ball and then started jumping up and down like a 5-year-old whining for a bail out call. Blaming others for your horrible shortcomings? Check.

lol This game doesnt mean anything as far as the offense goes - see 2014 and 2015. We will know more about the potential against KY.

The receivers appear to be upgraded.

I said he would get pulled against KY or that he got yanked last season against KY?

I remember saying I thought he would get yanked at least temporarily by the end of the LSU game. Maybe I did but I don't remember that KY prediction.

Against teams like Charleston Southern you can’t play the result because of how bad the team is as much as the decision making for QB’s. And he looked MUCH better there. There were multiple times where Mullen called a deep shot and he saw the coverage and checked it down. At least two other occasions I saw him look down his primary, game off him and went to his secondary, and then went to a third guy. It was a night and day difference in terms of confidence. He wasn’t holding the ball looking confused, he’d get to the top of his drop and let it go. I care way more about that then the actual result of the plays.

And the area where I thought he would really struggle is with the zone reads and run-pass options and he killed those. The very first play was an example. We had a zone read with a pop pass built in and he read the DE, read the outside linebacker, and hit the receiver on the pop pass like he was supposed to. Made the right decision every time we ran zone read too. Doesn’t matter who the opponent is to evaluate that stuff.

Jefferaon. Grimes. Krull. Pierce.

How did weapons like that end up on this roster???
You can't get a better name than Krull.

The pass Franks made to Gamble over the middle is something he never would have done last year. He went through his reads nicely on that play.

Yep. Even when they got pressure he didn’t panick. That one touch pass he threw game after he got pressure around edge and he just calmly slid up in the pocket and delivered a dime downfield keeping his eyes up the whole way.

If anything I came away from the game more worried about the oline. We couldn’t bully them at all upfront which we should do to such a small dline. Our backs were always having to create their own yards.

I really enjoyed the playcalling but CS was one of the worst teams we've ever played.

...probably having a heart attack...Franks is throwing TDs/a lot of good balls...Defense is flying around and Gators blocked a damn kick! Can't remember the last time we blocked a kick. I know who our opponent is but it was a great first half! #gatornation

Its Charles Southern.....Blackman looked good against Charles Southern

Not really sure what to think after watching the replay.

Pros: Franks hit some receivers in the end zone that he might have missed last season with a bad throw.

Special teams you have to give credit for blocking those kicks even if it was Charleston Southern. Just hope it isn't like someone said it was at Miss State and most of that stuff just happens against these lowly teams.

Receivers seem to have been upgraded.

Cons: Offensive line wasn't getting that good of push at all until late in the first half considering the opponent - especially on the plays where there was no pulling. Davis would have been off to the races on one of those early pulling plays if he cut just a bit sooner when the hole opened however.

Franks: Except for just a few passes it appeared he was able to get away with just going right to his first read keeping pressure from becoming an issue for him. He did what was needed but we need better defenses to see how he has really progressed.

from what i seen the RBs has a lot of work more than the OLine… Many times the RB was hitting the wrong hole and whenever they hit the right hole they would gain 10+ yards… Replay the video again and see what im saying… Yes the OLine still has room for improvement but they did great against the pass rush… But IMHO I believe we will hear about how the RBs made some mistakes also… I can tell you one play where Perrine should have cut up field and he tried to go outside the left tackle and he was tackled and loss 2 yds… He gets up and the left tackle was pointing to him to cut up field behind him… Scarlett still appears to be holding back, not putting forth his true speed and strength…Who is #29? i hope he gets to touch the ball more next week because he runs hard and fast!!!

Scarlett is what he is I think - just a bruiser that isn't great at cutting etc. Davis looks like he is still not 100% to me or he would have been off to the races on that one play. Perine's big run was just that team selling out to one side.

#29 is Dameon Pierce, he magically appeared on the roster because Mullen cannot recruit. Same with our WR

I pretty much agree with the assessment - but this was my "best case" scenario. I'm not under any dilusion of where the team/Franks are at but it was really nice to see an overall program step forward.

We still need talent improvement especially in the Oline side of the ball. If this team does get unhealthy we could get acutely exposed as the season wears on.

I don’t think anyone is disillusioned BUT after ten years of beating these teams 17-14 it was nice to see us go out and dominate a bad team. We are not a great team, however unlike the past seasons we went out and played like we have far superior athletes. If nothing else, the coaching appears to be much improved and we are headed i. The right direction for the first time in a long time

29 is Pierce I think, Freshman...he was running hard with power. He looks like a load.

Things that really caught my attention: special team plays
If Mac was still our coach we would have beaten CSU 24-17 and we’d all be speculating that we were holding stuff back.

That always drove me nuts, We're just running a vanilla offense to hide from the good teams.

lol then play the good teams and we just suck.
