2024-25 Basketball,,, all things considered...

After a while, he no longer wanted to deal with coddling high schoolers and having limited contacts with his team during the off season. He also stated in the NBA it's 24/7 basketball, so I understood why he left. He just had one of those thoughts like Spurrier did about coaching in the pro ball.

Curious where he ends up if Chicago does fire him after this season. NC might be a possibility if they don't get their act together this coming season. I wonder if being 60 then and being gone for some years would hurt his chances to land a top blue bloods position (Duke, Kansas, UNC or KY).

Didn't stop UNC from hiring Billichick

To me, SF Haugh is more NBA ready than PF/C Condon is.
But if I had to choose which one stays, it would be Haugh.
We have Handlogten and others to replace Condon, but nobody that can fill Haugh's particular style / shoes.
And Haugh is definitely won the Gators/SEC 6th Man Award from me.
JMOHO's as always

Condon does pretty well with his rebounding, blocked shots, and interior defense / steals, plus his assists.
But he definitely needs another year or two to improve both his scoring and his FT shooting.

The 3 Sr guards are all ready for pro ball,,, in the NBA or somewhere else.
This article is a month old, but it's a great article on Haugh. Love the kid. And maybe the fact that he & Condon are so close will help Alex decide to come back for another year.

Spot on! Haugh shot the three ball very well, over 80% FT has speed, can handle the ball and is a good defender. He checks all the boxes. I agree we need him back.

Those three guards will be difficult to replace. The portal offers some quality, ready to go players so I look for Coach to bring in a few and be ready for the next season.

Kentucky just lost their high school recruit point guard and he may have been scared off because they are signing better players in the portal or his handlers wanted to renegotiate his "bag". Bottom line you can sign the best high school stars and still find someone in the portal that will move them to the bench. It is a different game now.

I am looking forward in seeing who the Gators bring in to fill those three guard spots. The best guards on one team in 2024-25.

As to getting another PG in the portal, there's this...

This is good news. I have heard Duke or St Johns for Lee but Florida makes more sense. Many are saying since he is from Ivy League Princeton, Duke would be his choice but I say, the University of Florida is as good in academics as Ivy League schools. So if he is looking for academics, Florida has a lot to offer.

Bring him to Gainesville.

It is crazy now. The very top recruits will usually be gone after a year but except for a few of them a seasoned proven experienced good option from the portal makes more sense imo. I know Duke had a few this season but not sure that is a good model to try and win championships. I think you might be better off with the higher high school recruits that are at least expected to be around 2 - 3 years.

Who would likely be our starting PG if it came from the players we have coming back and are they a good option?

He might be the one we get, since his brother is already on the team.
His sophomore year he played just 9 games due to a season-ending labrum injury, and drew a medical redshirt. So Brown has two more years of eligibility remaining.

In three years with a career 37% 3-P shooter at Ohio for his college career, he finished this season averaging 13.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists as an important starter, and even with those low numbers, he's weak on defense.

But even with those comments, you'd have to be a coach with 1st hand knowledge to evaluate his potential in the Gator's system. I'm not commenting here on taking him or not, just throwing out what I've read. iG

SG Isiah Brown is the brother of PG AJ Brown, i.e. Family

This part at the end just sounds stu-pid to me, but as I said, I don't know....

"Because several people will ask, the comparisons to his (SG) brother Isaiah are largely in size and stature, though they have different games. (SG) Isaiah is much more athletic than (PG) AJ and is someone with some more juice with the ball in his hands, whereas right now (PG) AJ is the more proven shooter." -- Eric Fawcett
2024-25 Ohio - 13.2 Pts, 3.2 Rbs, and 1.1 Assists

==========

2024-25 Princeton - PG Xaivian Lee - HS teammates with Haugh, so he's kinda family too.
"He’s an elite scorer, and I think his defense has really evolved too,” Haugh said. “It’d be really good for us.”
He averaged 17.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 3.7 APG in 2023-24.
Last season, he was at 16.9 Pt's, 6.1 Rb's and 5.5 ASSISTS

On paper, Lee looks better, but I could take either or better yet, both.

Replacing Clayton, Richard & Martin is really impossible, but they have to do their best. What a trio they turned out to be and backed by a really good Denzel Aberdeen. I can envision Todd Golden feeding tons of data into his "analytics computer" and waiting on the names to spit out the perfect players to fit his system. :)

Guards returning for 2025-26,,, so far:

Denzel Averdeen 6-5 190 Sr - Orlando, FL
Has appeared in 44 games, 733 Min, totaling 125 Pts, 33 Rb's, 25 Ast's, 39 TO's, and 13 steals in his career. FG 41.8%, 3's 35%, FT 70.8%.

Urban Klavar 6-1 195 Jr - Slovenia
Competed extensively with the Slovenian national program, appearing in six FIBA championships.
2024-25 - 267 Min, FG 36.3%, 3's 34.0%, FT 66.7%, 21 Ast, 14 TO's, 6 Stl's.

Kajus Kublickas 6-2 180 Jr - Lithuania
PG who appeared in 9 games as a Fr, as a Soph, 4 GMs.
Career 60 Min, FG 28.6%, 3's 0, FT 87.5% 2/2, Ast 6, TO 4, RB 10, Stl 1, 4 Pts.

Kevin Pazmino 6-4 195 Jr - Weston, FL
Transfers to UF as a sophomore walk-on after averaging 10.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game at Santa Fe College in 2023-24.

Cooper Josefsberg 6-4 195 rsSo - Miami, FL
Appeared in two games during his freshman campaign while being a key member of the scout team. Had 4 Gms as a little used Soph.

Isaiah Brown 6-4 195 So - Orlando, FL
A winner and a leader with an infectious personality that unites his teams.
Brings great size and scoring ability to the perimeter.
2024-25 - 71 Min, FG 52%, 3's 37.5%, FT 43.8%, Ast 1, TO 3, Stl 3, Blk 1.
=====

#8 CG Alex Lloyd 6-3 165 Fr **** - Ft. Lauderdale, FL
"Coach Golden and the rest of the staff told me that they would give me an opportunity as a freshman to make an impact," He said he intends to work on his physicality and his ability to play with pace, things that will directly impact his readiness to transition into Florida's system.

SF/CG CJ Ingram 6-6 195 Fr **** - Montverde, FL
Eclipsed 1,000 career points midway through junior season on the hardwood. Averaged 24 ppg, 8.5 apg, 3.7 rpg and 3.7 spg as a 11th grader per MaxPreps after averaging 21.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 3.3 spg and 2.1 apg as a 10th grader, while splitting his time between B-Ball and Football. He has chosen to concentrate on B-Ball at the next level so his B-Ball improvement should be accelerated. (his legacy Dad Cornelius, played both at UF, then football in the NFL)

Just guessing here: It looks like Aberdeen, Klavar, Brown, then whoever looks/plays best after them, maybe the 2 Fr can make some waves?

Any transfers-in's remain to be seen....

I think Haugh and Condon will be back.

I think Haugh will be back, but if Condon goes through the process and is convinced he'll be a 1st round pick it will be hard for him to pass up that kind of money. Sure hope he returns.

It didn't look like he was going to move up in the rotation, so good luck to him wherever he lands....
He transfers as a Jr with 2 years to play elsewhere.

Kajus Kublickas 6-2 180 Soph - Lithuania

I could see Condon entering the draft to try and negotiate a little NIL money out of UF. I say he ultimately returns.

I think it's simply if he knows if he will go late 1st round or not. If so he is gone but I think if he believes 2nd round is more likely from their feedback there is a good chance he stays but obviously no guarantee he will stay another season. We will know about June 15th I guess.

He'd be doing himself a major favor for his future by playing in college for one more year, as multiple teams showed plenty in the tournament he's not ready for the next level and might end up living in another country and never making it to the league and forgotten unless he raises his stock to being a legit lottery pick possibility with one more year of college next year...

Before Condon even stepped on campus, he signed a contract to play Aussie rules football after he finished his eligibility at UF so things have changed since. Condon turned out far better than we expected but still needs improvement by staying another year. Until recently he never thought NBA scouts would ever pay him this much attention.
