2024-25 Basketball,,, all things considered...

The next 5 games is the only stretch of games in our SEC schedule that don't look really tough on paper. Arkansas lost their first 2 SEC games but did beat Michigan this season. Hopefully we can go 5-0 in this stretch.
Win at home, try to scratch out a few road wins. It's going to be really hard to win SEC road games this year, as Tennessee & Kentucky found out Tuesday night.

Right. I think UF and Auburn are built for better success on the road than most of the rest. I would include Tennessee but their offense is suspect.

Winning games like @ Arkansas are key to having a chance to win the regular season SEC which should be a lock to get a 1 seed.

Even in hoops, TexAss doesn't deserve to be in the SEC, although I'd like to see TexAss show Rick Barnes why they fired him.

Ugly foul fest, but the Gators pulled out an SEC road win. Doesn't matter how, they got it done. You're right Fever, Condon had a great 2nd half. Clayton is not himself lately, but Martin was steady until fouling out and Richard had a good 2nd half. Aberdeen is streaky and dribbles it around way too much. But he's a tenacious defender and has had some really good games for us.

Golden has a good bench this year to rotate in and out and it showed today with the foulfest

We must have done Miss State a favor when Stricklin became our AD. Can't wait for UF to bring in an actual President.

That asshole is an idiot, if this is true. If this was a decision by the finance comittee, that's one thing, say so. But it sounds to me Stricklin has zero common sense awareness and was happy to peddle tickets for full price vs student pricing. Also, haven't students been on campus when this gamed was played? Almost all of the public schools were back as of Monday, the 6th. Damn.

Any road win is a great win. Take it and move on. If we can pick off another 1-2 road wins and defend home court, we will be in great shape.

Thomas Haugh should run away with the SEC sixth man of the year.
I don't know about that. I see him and Aberdeen sharing that award, as both have been excellent, just as I expected them to be early on.... They play different positions so stats are also different.
But if it turned out to be Haugh edging him out by season's end, I wouldn't have much of an argument on it.
=====

Stats in the big win vs #1 Tennis-sea:

Aberdeen 20 Min - 16 Pts, 5/11 FG, 2/4 3's, 4/5 FT
2 Rb, 2 PF, 0 ast, 1 TO, 0 Blk, 1 Stl

Haugh 22 Min - 7 Pts, 2/5 FG, 0/0 3's, 3/4 FT
3 Rb, 2 PF, 2 Ast, 1 To, 0 Blk, 1 Stl

They were also fairly close vs Ark, with Haugh slightly better, before he fouled out.
If varies game to game and opponent to opponent.
=====

However, Condon was certainly the iG"s P of Gm today.

Condon 26 Min - 12 Pts, 4/7 FG, 1/1 3's, 3/5 FT
10 Rbs, 3 PF, 4 Ast, 0 TO, 3 Blks, 0 Stl, for a
Double/Double.

I’ll buy that.

You are kidding me? That's not a Christmas break, that's a Christmas summer. 😂
True. But it’s a fact the students were not back on campus when the Tennessee game was played. That’s amazing to have them turned away because of the sellout. I don’t think that has ever happened at UF. Complements to coach Golden.

Did I see on the screen yesterday that was our 17th game in a row of 70 or more points and hear our winning margin is 22 points which is the highest in the country?

My grandson flew back to Gainesville and went to the O Dome and got in line. He was 5 from the door when they shut it and said no more people allowed in. He said he has never had a problem getting in.

Florida basketball is on the rise and the team is one of the best in the nation. The O Dome will soon be too small for a men's basketball game.

Freaky Flow of the Game: UF 71 - 63 Ark

UF & Ark combned for 44 fouls to just 43 made FG's.
Ark got 35 FT's to UF's 20 FT's.

The Gator's, after not having a single player foul out of a game,,,
fouled out 3 vs Ark: Martin - Haugh - Chinyelu
Finished the away win with 2 starters and a 6th man out of the game.

The difference in this game and the TN game was this:
"You have to read the game, see how refs are calling it, then pick your spots," senior guard Will Richard said. "There were parts during the game they were calling stuff and parts of the game when they weren't, so you just have to play smart." (a comment I made during the game when the Refs were definitely favoring the home floor piggies, but at least that didn't get out of hand)
=====

The Gator Bigs had a BIG day:
Condon 12 Pts, 10 Rbs. Consecutive Double-Doubles.
Haugh 8 Pts, 7 Rbs. >>> A backup's double-double imo
Alexis 6 Pts, 7 Rbs. >>> A backup's double-double imo.
Chinyelu 2 Pts, 7 Rbs -- FG 1/2, FT 0-1 for an uncharacteristic off game.

It seems to me that the guys are getting better at passing the ball to guys breaking to the basket, even though that's created some TO's, it's a needed skill going forward imo.

Golden - "We talked about if we're going to reach our goals of being an elite team and playing deep into March, we need different guys to step up on different nights." (like Haugh & Aberdeen as I've mentioned)
=====

RB - Condon 10, Richard 8, Rueben-Haugh-Alexix 7 each.
PT - Martin 14, Richard-Clayton-Condon 12 each
Ast/TO - Condon 4/0, Clayton 5/3, Aberdeen 1/3

Blk - Condon 3, Chinyelu 2, Thomas-Martin 1 each
